CSU Pueblo’s Rev 89 Receives International 2021 Spirit of College Radio Award

PUEBLO —Colorado State University Pueblo’s student-operated radio station, KTSC-FM, REV 89, was one of just 10 radio stations worldwide to earn the international Spirit of College Radio award.

Colorado Promise Offers Free Tuition to Students in Colorado with Family Income of $50,000 or Less

Colorado State University Pueblo announced a new enrollment initiative called Colorado Promise, which offers free tuition to new first-time Colorado residents with a gross family income of $50,000 or less. This tuition guarantee requires full-time enrollment and is guaranteed for one year, but can be continued for up to four years if students maintain eligibility.

Colorado State University Pueblo Becomes First University in Colorado to Reach Net Zero Efficiency with Solar Power

On Thursday, Aug. 19, Colorado State University Pueblo announced the 23-acre solar array project on the north side of campus, had been completed and the university has officially switched all academic buildings to solar power. CSU Pueblo is the first campus in the state of Colorado to reach net zero efficiency. The solar project launched as a 25-year power purchase agreement with Johnson Controls and allows CSU Pueblo to become a higher education leader in sustainability and energy consumption.

CSU Pueblo President’s Blue and Red Gala to Honor University Champions

Timothy Mottet, president of Colorado State University Pueblo, is pleased to announce the return of the CSU Pueblo President’s Gala, now branded the CSU Pueblo President’s Blue and Red Gala. The Gala will take place on Saturday, Aug. 14 in the Occhiato Student Center Ballroom on campus. Nursing Students Receive Kenneth King Foundation Award

The Kenneth King Foundation awarded Colorado State University Pueblo $50,000. This award, given to the CSU Pueblo Works Program will provide grants to eligible CSU Pueblo Nursing students to supplement students’ unpaid clinical requirements. Up to 15 nursing students will be presented need-based stipends for previously unpaid clinical internships and field experiences in the 2021-2022 academic year. Stipends will vary by need and provide students with livable hourly pay to perform their work-based academic requirements.

Over 1,000 Students Achieve Dean’s List Honors

During the 2021 Spring semester, 1,089 Colorado State University Pueblo students achieved a 3.50 grade-point average or higher. These 1,089 students navigated hybrid learning models, less in-person interaction and a pandemic to earn a place on the Dean’s List. All of these 1,089 undergraduate degree-seeking students completed 12 or more credit hours this spring.

Institute of Cannabis Research Cannabis Research Funding Awards Announced

PUEBLO—The Institute of Cannabis Research (ICR) hosted at Colorado State University Pueblo recently completed the first statewide competition for funding of cannabis research. Approximately 40 proposals were received from researchers at six institutions of higher education, several nonprofit research organizations, and a private entity with the required state licensing. Applications were evaluated by scientific review panels comprised of subject matter experts from around the country. Ten projects were recommended for funding and will be led by researchers from four universities and one private company with an anticipated start date of July 2021.

State of Colorado Awards CSU Pueblo $20 Million

Colorado Governor, Jared Polis signed State Bill 21-205 or the Long-Bill into effect on Monday. This bill will allocate over $3 million to Colorado State University Pueblo for campus improvements and approves CSU Pueblo’s planned renovations to its Technology Building.

Colorado State University Pueblo announces merit scholars through the CSU Pueblo Foundation

Colorado State University Pueblo has announced the names of 11 local students who will receive prominent merit scholarships through the CSU Pueblo Foundation. Colorado State University Pueblo Engages in Local Efforts on National Stage with $571 Million Contract Partnership with ENSCO Inc.

PUEBLO—Colorado State University Pueblo is part of a team of surface transportation research organizations lead by ENSCO Inc. (ENSCO) that was recently awarded a $571 million USD contract by the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) to provide research, testing, engineering, and training services at the Transportation Technology Center (TTC). The team will focus on initiatives that support FRA and the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) objectives to establish TTC as a vibrant, engaging, and modern center for railroad and ground transportation safety, security, and innovation. Transfer of TTC operations to the ENSCO team is anticipated to be completed by October 2022.

PUEBLO—A Colorado State University Pueblo private athletics-focused foundation, The Friends of Football (FOF), announced in a community message on Tuesday, May 4, 2021, the intent to donate the Neta and Eddie DeRose ThunderBowl, including all donatable assets of FOF. FOF recently voted to dissolve the organization and gift the ThunderBowl to the CSU Pueblo Foundation, pending the satisfaction of all donation details by August 1, 2021, when additional details will be made available by the CSU Pueblo Foundation.
