Cyber Wolves at NCL Cyber Security Games
This Fall, CSU-Pueblo and HSB sponsored four NCL (National Cyber League) teams at the NCL cyber security games. Once again, our CSU-Pueblo players placed nationally.
Colorado State University-Pueblo Hosted 42nd Annual Math Day Swanson Competition and Math Bowl
The Department of Mathematics and Physics at Colorado State University-Pueblo hosted the 42nd annual Math Day Swanson and Math Bowl competitions on campus on Thursday, Nov. 21. Students from Mesa Ridge, Rocky Ford, Fountain Ft. Carson, Cripple Creek, Centauri, Pueblo East, Doherty, Widefield, Pine Creek, Coronado, Pueblo Centennial, Swink, Rye, and Pueblo Central all participated.
Home-School Students Provide Experiential Teaching and Learning for CSU-Pueblo Students
On Tuesdays and Thursdays in Massari Arena you can find Colorado State University-Pueblo undergraduate and graduate level students with pre-kindergarten through high school aged students. CSU-Pueblo students in the Exercise Science, Physical Education, and Recreation department offer physical education to home-school students as part of their course work.
Governing Board for Institute of Cannabis Research Visits Colorado State University-Pueblo Campus
The Institute of Cannabis Research (ICR) has a newly appointed Governing Board. This comes as a result of Governor Jared Polis appointing these individuals to oversee the ICR through HB19-1311. The governing board met for the first time on Monday, Nov. 18 at Colorado State University-Pueblo where the ICR is housed.

Fourth Annual Give Day - A Tremendous Success for CSU-Pueblo
Another record-breaking day of support for Colorado State University-Pueblo wrapped-up at 11:59 p.m. on Nov. 15. The Fourth Annual Love CSU-Pueblo Give Day exceeded expectations raising a record number of dollars for 26 cross-campus campaigns, making it the most successful one-day event to-date.

Colorado State University-Pueblo will host Mountainfilm on Tour on November 7 in the Occhiato Ballroom on campus. This film presents a selection of nonfiction documentary films that are adventure packed and inspiring.

Piano Monster Concert and Pueblo Keyboard Arts Festival hosted by CSU-Pueblo
Colorado State University-Pueblo will host the 10th annual Piano Monster Concert on Saturday, November 2, at 7 p.m. This is an event that is part of the CSU-Pueblo Music Department’s Pueblo Keyboard Arts Festival, which takes place October 31 through November 2.
Rick Gonzalez Appointed to Spouse/Partner Program Team for American Association of State Colleges and Universities
Rick Gonzalez, spouse of Colorado State University-Pueblo President Timothy Mottet, has been appointed by Dr. Mildred Garcia, President of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU), to develop presidential spouse/partner programming for their annual conferences. Gonzalez will present at the AASCU annual meeting in Phoenix, AZ being held the end of October.

Colorado State University-Pueblo Allocated $1.9 Million for Upgrades to ThunderBowl and Massari Arena
The Colorado State University-Pueblo Athletic Department has received $1.9 million for facility improvements to the Neta and Eddie DeRose ThunderBowl and Massari Arena. The commitment to Pack Athletics comes as part of CSU-Pueblo’s Vision 2028, a 10-year strategic plan to establish CSU-Pueblo as the “people’s university of the Southwest.”
CSU-Pueblo Expands Colorado Springs Location
Colorado State University-Pueblo hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony at the Colorado Springs location, located at 2864 S. Circle Drive, on Monday, September 30. Many gathered to see the reveal of the new signage on the building and to see the newly expanded location.

Colorado Free Application Day
To encourage more Coloradans to continue their education, Gov. Jared Polis announced today that all 32 public colleges and universities in Colorado and several private institutions will allow students to apply for free on Tuesday, October 15.

Ivan Palou of Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, is a senior Exercise Science major at Colorado State University-Pueblo. Palou first attended CSU-Pueblo with hopes of making the football team, however after a meniscus tear and change in position from center to fullback, his focus shifted.

Chamber Choir Performs at Prestigious International Festival in Columbia
The CSU-Pueblo Chamber Choir was invited to be one of five featured international choirs on the XVIII Festival Coral Internacional de Medellin Jose Maria Bravo held July 3-7, 2019, in Medellin, Colombia. Annually, the festival involves 30-40 choirs.

Institute of Cannabis Research Introduces Journal
The Institute of Cannabis Research (ICR) is introducing a new scholarly journal, the Journal of Cannabis Research. The journal is sponsored by the ICR at CSU-Pueblo and published with the assistance of Springer Nature, one of the world’s largest and most prominent academic publishers.

1,149 students have been named in the 2019 Spring Semester Dean’s List at Colorado State University-Pueblo. The list recognizes undergraduate degree-seeking students who have completed 12 or more credit hours with a minimum grade-point-average of 3.5.

Four CSU-Pueblo Students to Intern at Smithsonian Institution Summer 2019
Colorado State University-Pueblo has sent four students to Washington, D.C. to complete a nine week internship at the Smithsonian Institution over the summer of 2019.
CSU System Board of Governor's Approves Zero Tuition Increase for In-State Undergraduates at CSU-Pueblo
Tuition will remain unchanged next year for Colorado resident undergraduate students at Colorado State University-Pueblo as part of the newly approved incremental budget and tuition proposals for the CSU System.
Commencement on Campus for the First Time in Over Two Decades
Colorado State University-Pueblo celebrated more than 1,000 graduates on Saturday, May 4. Commencement was split into two ceremonies, one beginning at 10 a.m. and another that followed at 3 p.m., both were held in Massari Arena on CSU-Pueblo’s campus in the Health, Exercise Science, and Recreation building. This year’s theme for the ceremonies was “Celebrate Achievement. Celebrate Commencement.”
Rec Pack Summer Camp
Recreation Services and Facilities will offer its 9th annual Rec Pack Summer Camp for children entering Kindergarten-8th Grade. Participants will enjoy a variety of sports and adventure activities with an emphasis on fun, learning, and participation.
Derrick Williams Honored with Threlkeld Prize for Excellence as Top Senior
Colorado State University-Pueblo has named Derrick Williams as the 2019 recipient of the Threlkeld Prize for Excellence. The six finalists were selected from a pool of candidates compiled from nominations by CSU-Pueblo faculty and staff from various University departments.

CSU-Pueblo Students Further NASA Design
Seven students studied the NASA concept of a “portable wireless signal booster” and came up with their own idea on how to make a product with it. Their idea earned them a trip to the NASA MITTIC Technology Transfer competition at the Johnson Space Center in March, where they placed in the top ten finalists.
John Williamson, Ph.D., Selected as Director of Research and Sponsored Programs
An experienced academician with a background in academic research funding has been hired as CSU-Pueblo’s Director of Research and Sponsored Programs. Dr. John Williamson, Research Grant Strategist and Consultant, Academic Research Funding Strategies, LLC College Station, TX, will provide oversight for the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP) beginning May 1.
2019 President's Medallion Recipients
Dr. Janet Heine Barnett, Pepsi Bottling Company, Mark DeRose, Dr. and Mrs. Adolph, and Bernadette Padula, will be honored as President's Medallion recipients during the Colorado State University-Pueblo 2019 President’s Gala on Saturday, May 18. Proceeds from the Gala directly benefit future generations of CSU-Pueblo students through scholarships and programs.

Brandon Bayer named Student Leader of the Year
Senior Brandon Bayer was named Colorado Leadership Alliance’s (CLA) 2019 Student Leader of the Year at the CLA Summit on Jan. 26. The award is given by the Denver Metro Chamber Leadership Foundation and the Boettcher Foundation annually.

Juanita Pena Selected as Director of Business and Financial Services/Controller
An experienced accounting professional has been hired as CSU-Pueblo’s Director of Business and Financial Services/ Controller. Juanita Pena, Director of Finance at Pueblo Community College, will become the chief accounting officer for the University beginning April 15.
University to Host Enrollment Event in Colorado Springs
Colorado State University-Pueblo will host its third R.E.A.C.T. (Registration, Enrollment, Advising for Continuing, Transfers) event at its Colorado Springs Tower location, March 27. The event is intended to assist all students seeking to continue their education or transfer to the university.

Campus to Host 800+ Students from Across Colorado for Science Olympiad
Science Olympiad is the nation’s largest middle and high school science competition with 8,000 teams in all 50 states. The March 2 event at CSU-Pueblo event will feature 35 separate competitions ranging from Protein Modeling to Forensics and Mousetrap Vehicles.
Foundation Receives Gift to Benefit Nursing and Athletics Programs
Parkview Medical Center will provide CSU-Pueblo Foundation with a three-year gift to support the CSU-Pueblo School of Nursing and Health Sciences. Funds will go towards student scholarships, and faculty and staff salaries needed to provide additional nursing programming.
Military and Veteran Affiliated Career Expo Coming to Pueblo on March 5
On Tuesday, March 5, the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment and the Pueblo Workforce Center will join with Colorado State University and more than 40 community-minded businesses to host the Military and Veteran Affiliated Career Expo, a recruiting event designed to connect veterans, military members and their families (including retired, separated military, Reserves, and Guard members) with a wide variety of job opportunities.
Colorado State University to Host a Two-Day Cyber Security Workshop
Colorado State University-Pueblo, a U.S. National Security Agency-Center of Academic Excellence (NSA-CAE) designated institution, will conduct, Emergent Threats in Cyber Security, a two-day workshop, February 28-March 1, 2019, at the CSU-Pueblo at Colorado Springs Tower location off of Circle Drive and I-25.
CSU-Pueblo Students to Benefit from Approval of $550,000 in OER State Grant Funding
Colorado State University-Pueblo students will benefit from one of 20 proposals recently approved by the Colorado Commission on Higher Education that will provide nearly $550,000 in funding for higher education Open Educational Resources (OER) projects throughout the state.

CSU-Pueblo CIS CyberWolves Continue National Cyber Security Performance Rankings
For the third straight season, nationally ranked CSU-Pueblo CyberWolves continued their “howling success” in the Fall National Cyber League (NCL) cybersecurity games by once again placing among the top 10 cyber security teams in the nation. The CyberWolves competed on two major NCL challenges: The NCL Regular (Individual) games and the NCL Post-Season (Team) game with great success.
