Veteran and Military Affiliated Expo

Expo Welcomes All Job Seekers to Southern Colorado's Premier Hiring Event

On Tuesday, March 5, the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment and the Pueblo Workforce Center will join with Colorado State University and more than 40 community-minded businesses to host the Military and Veteran Affiliated Career Expo, a recruiting event designed to connect veterans, military members and their families (including retired, separated military, Reserves, and Guard members) with a wide variety of job opportunities.

Event organizers stress, however, that a military background isn't a requirement to attend.  All job seekers are welcome.  Whether you’re ready to make a major career transition or simply want to explore your options, you’ll find employers at the event who will be interested in talking with you.

The Military and Veterans Affiliated Career Expo
Date: Tuesday, March 5
Time: 10am - 2pm
Location:

Colorado State University, Pueblo Campus

Ochiatto Student Center Ballroom

2200 Bonforte Blvd, Pueblo CO

Employers at the Military and Veteran Affiliated Career Expo are seeking workers from entry-level to experienced or supervisory.  It’s a great chance to meet with many prospective employers in a brief period of time.  Now in its second year, the Military and Veterans Career Expo has doubled in size since its inaugural year.

Among the businesses in attendance will be Key Structures LLC, a company that will be opening a manufacturing facility in Pueblo to create prefabricated components and units for houses, apartments and other buildings.  Key Structures hopes to hire upwards of 60 people at the event.

Job seekers should keep in mind that the recruiters will be closely screening applicants.  Attendees should be personable and ready to summarize their skills in an exciting environment.  Job seekers are encouraged to target their résumés to the jobs they are applying for.  A résumé builder tool is available online at jobscan.co/resume-builders.

Bring copies of your résumé and dress for a job interview.  “The goal is to leave a clear impression of the benefits you have to offer,” says Pueblo Workforce Center Director Diana Esquibel.  “If you’re prepared, you could walk out of the Expo with a great job offer.”

The Military and Veteran Affiliated Career Expo is a collaboration of numerous community, government, and non-profit organizations, many of whom will have representatives on-hand to talk with job seekers about their career goals and how to reach them.

Among the resources available at the expo will be the University of Denver Law School, McCandless Veterans Home, Mount Carmel, Onward to Opportunity, Peak Military Care Network, the VA Vet Center, the Wounded Warrior Project, and Troops to Teachers.

In addition, several breakout sessions will be held to enhance your professional development.  For more information on this free event please call 719-667-3894 or 719-562-3762.
