Women’s Cross-Country Team Finishes 6th at NCAA Championships, Two Runners Receive All-American Honors

University Place, Wash. - CSU Pueblo women’s cross-country team finished sixth at nationals this weekend. After being ranked 23rd at the start of the season, the team fought their way to the NCAA Division II Championships. Sophomore Helen Braybrook and Graduate Student Yasmine Hernandez both earned All-American honors following their performance at the meet. This is the highest finish for women’s outdoor cross-country in the program’s history.

Seattle - CSU Pueblo Men’s Soccer advances to the NCAA Division II Championship match set for 1 p.m. MST on Saturday, Dec. 3 at Interbay Stadium in Seattle. Teamwork led the Pack to their 1-0 victory over Barry University. With only 29 seconds left in regulation play, midfielder Caio Oliveira took a free kick near midfield and volleyed the ball to defender Shjon Andrews. Forward Gabriel Campora was in position to receive the volley from Andrews and landed a header into the net. This is the Pack’s first appearance in a championship game.

CSU Pueblo Announces Massive Expansion of Tuition Benefit

PUEBLO—Colorado State University Pueblo announced the renewal of Colorado Promise, which offers free tuition to new first-time and transfer students who are Colorado residents with a gross family income of $70,000 or less. This tuition guarantee requires full-time enrollment and is guaranteed for one year but can be continued for up to four years for freshmen and two years for transfer if students maintain eligibility.

CSU Pueblo Homecoming Royal Announced

Colorado State University Pueblo hosted its annual homecoming game Saturday, October 1st against Fort Lewis. During the halftime break, Student Engagement, Events and Leadership presented the coronation ceremony for the 2022 Homecoming Royal and Homecoming Court. The crown is awarded to the nominee who receives the most popular votes, as decided by the campus community.

CSU Pueblo Receives $3 Million Over Five Years from the U.S. Department of Education to Develop Unique and High Impact Programming for Student Success

Pueblo – Colorado State University Pueblo will receive $3 million over the next five years to develop an innovative grant program named La Distancia. The grant will put into place innovative advising and support structures for online education that are “high impact practices” designed to create enriching academic opportunities that foster success for CSU Pueblo’s diverse student population. Pueblo – CSU Pueblo names Gena Alfonso as the new Public Information Officer and Director of University Marketing, Communications, and Community Relations. The move comes following the announced December 2022 retirement of Greg Hoye, who has served as the Executive Director of Marketing, Communications and Community Relations since 2018. Hoye was instrumental in professionalizing university marketing and communications and aligning our campus with our CSU System. Institute of Cannabis Research Announces Research Grantees

Pueblo— The Institute of Cannabis Research (ICR), located at Colorado State University Pueblo, recently completed its second statewide competition for cannabis research funding and awarded nearly $1 million in grant dollars for the coming year. The projects include research into the potential therapeutic effects of widely available cannabinoid products on traumatic brain injury-related deficits in cognitive function and self-reported anxiety, depression, sleep and pain; a study of the impact cannabis can have on Autism spectrum disorder-related seizures; and a deep dive into the impact that substances called secondary metabolites have on key hemp pests.

CSU Pueblo Awarded Over $14 Million in grants in 2021

PUEBLO — Colorado State University Pueblo received $14,255,129 in grants during the 2021 calendar year. These grants will help fund a variety of academic, facilities and staffing improvements for the campus.

La Cucaracha Exhibit to Debut at University Library Jan. 27

Colorado State University Pueblo (CSU Pueblo) will launch an exhibit on the Pueblo publication La Cucaracha with a grand unveiling Thursday Jan. 27 at 5:30 p.m. on the first floor of the Library and Academic Resource Center (LARC).

Colorado State University Pueblo Announced 2022 Distinguished University Professor Award

Pueblo— Colorado State University Pueblo (CSU Pueblo) announced the 2022 recipient of the Distinguished University Professor award, George Dallam, Ph.D., professor in the School of Health Sciences and Human Movement. Dallam was announced as the third recipient of this award on Monday, Jan. 10 during the virtual spring convocation.

Colorado State University Pueblo Honors the Legacy of Martin Luther King Jr.

Colorado State University Pueblo will observe Martin Luther King Jr. Day with a virtual morning event on Monday, Jan. 17, at 9 a.m. This year the Martin Luther King Jr. Day event will host Colorado College's dean of faculty and acting provost, Claire Garcia, Ph.D.

Spring 2022 Semester Open Convocation Week with Keynote Speaker, Brandon Busteed

Colorado State University Pueblo begins the new academic semester with spring convocation for faculty and staff the week of Jan. 10-14, 2022. This semester’s convocation week titled “Partnerships: Collaboration, Innovation, and the Future of Higher Education,” focuses on new opportunities for interdisciplinary academic and community partnerships.
