CSU Pueblo University and Fountain-Fort Carson High School to Present Joint Community Concert
Release Date: April 21, 2022
CSU Pueblo’s University Band and Wind Ensemble, in partnership with the Fountain-Fort Carson High School Wind Ensemble, will present a joint concert at CSU Pueblo in Hoag Recital Hall, Saturday, April 23, 4 p.m.
The concert will begin with the CSU Pueblo University Band, which will feature students enrolled in the course through both CSU Pueblo and Pueblo Community College. It will also include a number of participants enrolled through the university’s Department of Music Club, which includes students as young as 8th grade, and as experienced as senior citizens.
“The university’s advanced instrumental undergraduate conducting students will also be featured in the performance, which is an exciting opportunity for them, often their first-ever public performance as a pre-service music teacher or performer,” said Alan Mills, Professor of Music & Director of Bands at CSU Pueblo. “This class is truly a realization of experiential learning, and I am extremely pleased that our collaboration between PCC and CSU Pueblo is continuing forward even through challenging academic times,” said Mills.
Fountain-Fort Carson High School will also be performing, plus the University Wind Ensemble. The concert will end with a combined-band performance of all three bands.
“This is a wonderful opportunity to showcase the talented student musicians at CSU Pueblo as well as those throughout the local community, added Mills.
