The SCITT at CSU Pueblo to Host National Summer Transportation Institute (NSTI) Program for Middle School Students with No Cost to Students
PUEBLO — The Southern Colorado Institute of Transportation Technology (SCITT) at Colorado State University Pueblo (CSU Pueblo) is pleased to announce a two-week non-residential National Summer Transportation Institute (NSTI) program which takes place Wednesday, June 5 through Tuesday, June 18 for middle school students. The NSTI program is open to all students in sixth through eighth grades currently attending public and private schools in Colorado with no cost to students. A maximum of 25 students will be selected from the NSTI applications to participate in the 2024 summer program. The program will run daily from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The Colorado State University Pueblo ThunderBowl will be at capacity on Saturday, May 11th for the university’s commencement ceremony which begins at 8:30 a.m. The class of 2024 will be cheered on by 10,000 family members, friends, and loved ones, while more than 560 graduates receive their diplomas.
CSU Pueblo Announces Completion of Phase One of Technology Building Renovations

Four Finalists for the Threlkeld Prize for Excellence selected
Four finalists for the Threlkeld Prize for Excellence have been selected from a pool of candidates nominated by CSU Pueblo faculty and staff across multiple departments. The finalists include Ryem Ansaf, Ché Casados, Jr., Katherine Higgins and Per Emil Toerje Joensson. The Threlkeld Prize for Excellence was established in 1990 in memory of respected faculty member and beloved community member, Budge Threlkeld. The award recognizes a graduating senior who has completed at least four semesters at CSU Pueblo, maintained a grade point average of 3.7 or higher, and has demonstrated service to CSU Pueblo and the community.

35 Films Over Three Days: Mountainfilm on Tour Returning to Pueblo

CSU Pueblo Media and Entertainment class to explore the future of media, technology, and innovation at SXSW
PUEBLO,CO - Nine CSU Pueblo students will embark on an experiential class at South by Southwest (SXSW) in hopes of gaining an edge on their education and careers. The on-site portion of the class will take place March 7 to 17 in Austin, TX, where students will attend twenty industry sessions, film premiers, music showcases, keynotes, and tradeshows. During the last half of the trip, students volunteer as part of the music festival,gaining valuable experience from working the event.

Excitement Builds for Colorado Southern Regional Science Olympiad with Over 600 STEM Students Anticipated
The Colorado Southern Regional Science Olympiad Tournament is scheduled for Saturday, March 2nd. Drawing in over 600 participants from across Colorado, this profound STEM-focused event takes place on the CSU Pueblo Campus. It's a single-day tournament featuring 16 middle school teams and 25 high school teams. With 46 STEM competitions on the agenda, overseen by a collective of 50 STEM faculty, staff, and community professionals, the activities range from crime-solving and forensics to remote sensing and device testing. Spectators are welcome to observe from the Massari Arena, and admission is free for all.

Council on Social Work Education Awards Grant to CSU Pueblo’s Trevor Gates-Crandall
Assistant Professor Trevor Gates-Crandall, Ph.D., of Colorado State University Pueblo, has secured a nearly $10,000 grant for the initiative "Culturally Responsive, Queer Affirmative Practice in a Global Context." This three-year project, in collaboration with institutions in Vietnam and Australia, aims to foster inclusive environments for LGBTQ+ individuals through nine case studies in social work education, focusing on the US and Asia-Pacific regions.

Jean Dreyfus Lectureship Awards CSU Pueblo as One of Eight Undergraduate Institution Grant Recipients
PUEBLO, COLORADO – Assistant Professor of Chemistry Dr. Samuel Gockel has secured an $18,500 grant from the Camille and Henry Dreyfus Foundation. The Jean Dreyfus Lectureship Award provides funding to host a prominent researcher on campus for a guest lecture series. The grant aims to offer academic enrichment and support summer research fellowships for two undergraduate students who will collaborate with mentors in contemporary chemistry.
