PUEBLO, COLORADO - Colorado State University Pueblo student, Seungown (Collin) Han, has been accepted into the Nuclear Propulsion Officer Program with the United States Navy.

The Navy Nuclear Propulsion Officer Candidate (NUPOC) program stands as an esteemed and rigorous career trajectory, requiring individuals to demonstrate unwavering excellence and dedication. Successful candidates are assured a commission into the esteemed ranks of the US Navy upon graduation, unlocking access to one of the foremost nuclear programs globally. This prestigious pathway offers boundless opportunities for deployment and employment across the globe, ensuring candidates play pivotal roles in shaping and safeguarding naval operations worldwide.

“The program is highly competitive, as it requires applicants to meet rigorous academic, physical, medical standards, and to pass a technical interview with the Director of Naval Reactors,” Chief Levin, the nuclear programs advisor for the United States Navy, mentioned, “which Collin blew out-of-the-water.”

The NUPOC program offers the opportunity to attain a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degree without accumulating any debt whatsoever. Upon graduation, students will be able to work in any of the various fields such as Submarine Officer, Surface Warfare Officer, Naval Reactors Engineer, etc.

The NUPOC program is a demanding path that requires strong dedication and a commitment to excellence. Candidates, such as Han, will be rewarded with a monthly stipend, directly supporting their educational journey. This stipend, totaling $5,000.00 per month, is provided for a duration of up to 42 months, empowering students with financial flexibility to utilize these funds as they see fit, whether it be for living expenses or other necessities.

Additionally, Han will receive the valuable perk of complementary healthcare coverage. This generous support not only acknowledges the demanding nature of the program but also ensures that participants can fully immerse themselves in their studies without the burden of financial constraints.
