About Us

CHASS offers major programs of study in ArtEnglishWorld LanguagesHistoryMass CommunicationsMusicPolitical SciencePsychology, Social Science, Social Work, and Sociology, along with minors in other disciplines. CHASS provides hands-on opportunities for students to be actively involved in their field before completing their degree. The Colleges at CSU-Pueblo offer curricula that allow students the chance to gain the kind of experience and expertise necessary to be recognized by future employers and graduate programs.

Mission

The mission of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences is to help students develop critical thinking skills, aesthetic awareness, and ethical perspectives, to provide them with the tools and expertise necessary to function as responsible citizens and professionals and to engage in intellectual and artistic pursuits. 

In accordance with this, faculty members are committed to high quality teaching, theoretical and applied research, scholarship, creativity, to effective service to the university, the profession, and the region, and to innovative use of technology in these endeavors. The college strives to be a community of learners, teachers, and scholars responsive to the challenge of a diverse society, a vulnerable environment, and an increasingly technological and interdependent world.

Our university provides an exciting learning environment that is growing fast because of students like you. Our expanded academic offerings, new campus facilities, vibrant student life, various athletics, and professors and staff will contribute to your success. CSU-Pueblo is an exciting place to live and learn.

Our college offers degrees in Art, Music, Mass Communications, English, Foreign Languages, History, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology/Criminology, and Social Work, along with various minors. If you need information about any of our programs or help getting advised for classes—even if you are undecided about your major—do not hesitate to contact me or my staff. We will be glad to assign an advisor or department chair to help. You can also visit our web site, which has links to all the academic programs we offer.
