Message from the Dean

Thank you for visiting our website! Our college offers degrees in Art, Criminology, English, History, Humanities and Social Sciences, Media Communication, Music, Political Science, Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, and Spanish. We also provide a wide range of minors to complement any major program of study and to expand your career options.

Our Mission
We offer students opportunities to become ethical, socially responsible, and engaged learners who are prepared to assume leadership in a dynamic global context.

Our Vision
We encourage lifelong learning and partnerships with the communities we serve. We aspire to develop individuals who contribute to enhancing a diverse, global society by offering courses and experiences that cultivate aesthetic, creative, critical, and technological literacies. Whether through media projects, community-engaged research, artistic creations or innovative performances, our students learn how to apply their talents in ways that make a meaningful difference.

Career Relevance and Innovation
In CHASS, we connect the value of a liberal arts education to today’s rapidly changing world of work. Our students graduate with the critical thinking, communication, cultural awareness, and problem-solving skills that employers consistently rank as most essential. Beyond the classroom, students gain hands-on experience through internships, field work, community partnerships, study abroad, and undergraduate research. Increasingly, we also integrate emerging technologies—including Generative AI (GenAI), digital media platforms, and data-driven tools—into our teaching and learning, so our graduates are well prepared to navigate and lead in workplaces where human creativity and technological fluency go hand in hand.

If you need information about any of our programs or assistance with advising—even if you are still exploring your major—please reach out. I will be happy to connect you with a department chair, faculty member, or advisor who can provide further guidance. We look forward to welcoming you to our CHASS community and supporting you as you prepare for a fulfilling career and a purposeful life.
