Media & Entertainment, Bachelor of Science
Program Overview
The Bachelor of Science degree program in Media & Entertainment prepares students for careers across media and creative industries through applied and hands-on learning. As part of the School of Creativity and Practice, students gain valuable interdisciplinary experience across media, art, and music. Our offerings in multimedia journalism, public relations, sports media, video and audio production, and entertainment management equip tomorrow’s content creators and creative entrepreneurs with the necessary tools, knowledge, and experience to be successful in their fields.
Students learn the ins-and-outs of what it takes to be part of a media and entertainment company through SOCO Creative, our converged group of student-run, faculty advised media outlets that serve the campus, community, and Southern Colorado region.
The Today provides students the opportunity to enhance their news and sports reporting, copy writing, design, advertising, and management skills across print, online, and multimedia journalism products that serve the region’s diverse audience.
The Revolution – Rev 89 – embraces the essence of college radio and entertainment by offering opportunities for students to deejay live on-air, call play-by-play for local sports, create podcasts and specialty shows, book musical artists, produce live events, and manage all aspects of our FCC licensed, 8,000-watt FM station.
Our professional 3,000 square foot television and film production studio gives students the opportunity to create and distribute their own programs and learn the entire production workflow including pre-production, lighting, sound, camera operations, directing, editing, chromakey, and more.
