Rocky Mountain Public Media and CSU-Pueblo Renew Partnership
Release Date: April 02, 2019
Colorado State University-Pueblo President Timothy Mottet and Rocky Mountain Public Media President and CEO Amanda Mountain will sign a three-year agreement renewing the partnership of these entities in front of community partners and supporters Monday, April 8 at 10:30 a.m. in the Buell Communication Center on the CSU-Pueblo campus.
The partnership between CSU-Pueblo and Rocky Mountain Public Media, Colorado’s largest statewide, member-supported, multimedia organization and parent of Rocky Mountain PBS and KUVO, has existed for several decades. This three-year agreement represents the recommitment both organizations have made to the importance of preparing students with experiential learning opportunities and workforce skills around journalism.
“At CSU-Pueblo, we believe a university for the people must be inclusive, accessible and affordable, but most importantly, equip our students with the hands-on experiences that will allow our graduates to make significant contributions to their families, communities and the world,” said Mottet. “This three-year recommitment to our partnership with Rocky Mountain Public Media is a perfect example of the experiential learning opportunities that can be made available to our students when organizations collaborate,” Mottet added.
CSU-Pueblo will begin offering courses in the fall of 2019, which will give students the chance to create content for RMPBS shows like Colorado Experience and Arts District, as well as expand opportunities for internships or work-study situations in public media in Pueblo and throughout Colorado.
“While this partnership has existed for several decades, we are using this opportunity to innovate and build on our foundation,” said Mountain. “It is a win-win for our students, our community and our organizations.”
