SXSW Conference

PUEBLO—Colorado State University Pueblo students across all majors are invited to register for the South by Southwest (SXSW) Conference and Festivals in Austin, Texas in March of 2022.  This conference is offered as part of the ART 491 course for Spring 2022.

Students who are interested in media, art, music, film, entertainment, food, health, gaming, virtual reality, technology, civic engagement or entrepreneurship are encouraged to apply.  The conference and class has an availability limited to the first 12 students who register at CSU Pueblo. Students will meet in class throughout the spring semester leading up to the conference. The event in Austin, Texas takes place March 10-20, 2022.

“I have been offering this class for several years and have a unique partnership with SXSW, so I am excited to bring this opportunity to our students here at CSU Pueblo,” said Department Chair and Professor of Media Communication, Jon Pluskota.

An additional course fee of $1650 is required after tuition and fees, which covers airfare, accommodations, group transportation and three group meals. A $400 grant is available for scholarship to help offset the costs of the conference.  The course fee must be paid in-full prior to March 10, 2022. Enrollment is by permission only.

SXSW is an annual global professional event. SXSW has dedicated itself to helping creative people in achieving their goals. The conference was founded in 1987 in Austin, Texas and is best known for its conference festivals that celebrate the convergence of tech, film, music, education and culture.

“SXSW is the premier international conference for interactive, music, film and related industries,” said Pluskota. “There is networking, go-to sessions, an opportunity for experience new technology and products, pitch ideas and interact. It is truly an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”
