The reading minor is intended for elementary, secondary, or K-12 teacher certification candidates who wish to have a recognized area of strength in the teaching of reading and other language arts.
This will lead to a K-12 teacher license in Spanish for Colorado.
Education Minor - Secondary
The Education Minor is reserved for those undergraduate students pursuing a Colorado teaching license in conjunction with their major.
It is a “protected” minor, which means students cannot just add it by themselves. When a student successfully completes our admission course (ED 301), the Education Minor is added to his/her program.
The following majors can be paired with an Education Minor:
- Art BA/BFA: Art Education K-12 Emphasis
- Early Childhood Education, BS: K-3 Licensure Emphasis
- Liberal Studies (Elementary), BS
- English, BA
- Middle School Math, BS
- Mathematics, BS: Secondary Certification Emphasis
- Music, BA: Music Education Emphasis
- Exercise Science, BS: K-12 Teacher Preparation Emphasis
- Biology, BS: Biology Secondary Certification Emphasis
- Chemistry, BS: Secondary Teaching Certification Emphasis
- Physics, BS: Secondary Certification Emphasis
