School of Education Programs

The Early Childhood Education program is focused on teaching children from birth through age 8. We offer two four-year Bachelor of Science degree programs: one with Director Qualification and one with K-3 licensure.

Students will acquire a strong foundation in child development and education through engaging courses and practical field work.

The Early Childhood Education, Bachelor of Science program equips students with foundational knowledge in child development, curriculum planning, and effective teaching strategies for young children. Graduates are prepared to take on roles in early learning environments, public and private schools, and community-based programs that support young children and families.

The Master of Education (M.Ed.) program deepens students’ understanding of early childhood development, assessment, and inclusive education practices. Designed for educators and professionals seeking advanced roles in early childhood settings, the program can be completed in as little as one year, helping students quickly advance in their careers.

The Doctor of Educational Leadership (Ed.D.) program prepares experienced educators and professionals to lead transformational change in educational institutions and organizations. With a focus on equity, innovation, and strategic leadership, the program equips graduates to pursue senior-level roles in K–12 systems, higher education, and community or policy-based organizations.

The Liberal Studies, B.S. provides a strong liberal arts education for future elementary education teachers. The coursework provides both breadth and depth in the arts and humanities, English, math, sciences, and social sciences. Required courses also provide support in each area of the Colorado Content Standards.

Students are required to select an emphasis area for an additional 15 hours of study.

The Reading Minor is for elementary, secondary, or K-12 teacher certification candidates who wish to have a recognized area of strength in the teaching of reading and other language arts.

The Ed.D. in Educational Leadership program is designed to provide a practice-based doctoral degree for educational leaders who wish to advance their knowledge and skills to address the critical issues and challenges that exist in the field of education.

The unique design of this program recognizes the application of leadership in the daily work of educators in both P-12 and higher education. The program integrates concepts and research that apply to both educational domains and balances the specific perspectives needed to fully understand each unique domain as well. Students will be given the opportunity to focus on a particular educational domain throughout their coursework including the dissertation that best matches individual interests/goals.

To meet the rural, regional, and national needs for highly-qualified educational leaders, this program will be offered online.
