Red Folder initiative
The Red Folder Initiative provides faculty, staff, and graduate teaching or research assistants with a comprehensive reference guide for mental health resources available on campus and in the community.
The Red Folder is designed for those who may encounter students, faculty, or staff in distress and need guidance on how to respond, connect individuals with support, and follow appropriate campus protocols.
Red Folders are placed in each classroom. Additional copies may be available in departmental offices when extras are available.
What is included in the Red Folder?
The Red Folder outlines common signs of distress and provides guidance on how to contact the appropriate personnel in an emergency. It also includes tips for approaching distressed individuals and connecting them with necessary resources.
Training and access
A PDF version of the guide will be available on the Dean of Students, Pack Cares, and Counseling Center webpages. Training sessions will be conducted each semester, with additional details shared through campus announcements and the Digest.
Please listen to the audio file while viewing the accompanying PDF document for a complete training about the Red Folder Initiative. A captioned video version is coming soon.
