Services Outside Our Scope of Care:

We recognize some students are struggling with issues that can’t be addressed by the services we provide. Students whose needs fall outside our scope of care or have a preference we are unable to meet are primarily referred to outside providers. Some common reasons students are referred to services in the community include:
  • A need or desire to be seen more than every 2-3 weeks for individual therapy.
  • A need or desire for uninterrupted services from semester to semester.
  • A need or desire for a specialty or treatment modality we do not provide.
  • A need or desire for intensive outpatient, partial hospitalization, or inpatient care
  • Comprehensive psychological assessment to identify concerns such as ADHD, Learning Disorders, Autism Spectrum disorders, etc.
  • A need for court mandated or forensic assessment.
  • Students who are currently receiving or intend to receive ongoing individual therapy from an outside mental health provider. This does not apply to students interested in transferring their care to counseling services or for students interested in accessing groups, workshops, or online 24/7 tools.
  • Students needing medical detoxification and/or medical stabilization including initiating buprenorphine or methadone maintenance.
  • Students seeking treatment with Esketamine, psilocybin or other plant-based psychedelics, Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), or Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT).
  • Students seeking certification for medical cannabis registry card.
  • Students seeking documentation for Emotional Support/Service Animals (ESAs).
