Eligibility for Services
The CSU Pueblo Counseling Center provides services to currently enrolled students who pay student fees. Counseling services are not provided for individuals who are not CSU Pueblo students.
- Currently enrolled students who pay student fees are eligible to receive services at the Student Counseling Center.
- Although family members and partners of CSU Pueblo students may attend occasional consultations with a CSU Pueblo student who is receiving counseling, ongoing counseling services are not available to non-CSU Pueblo students.
Students identified as needing care beyond the Counseling Center’s scope of care will be assisted by our team. The Counseling Center can help students with referrals for care in the community. Please contact or visit us, and we will work with you to help transfer your care.
Services Outside Our Scope of Care
We recognize that some students may be experiencing concerns that cannot be fully addressed by the services we provide. Students whose needs fall outside our scope of care, or who have a preference we are unable to meet, are primarily referred to outside providers.
Common reasons students may be referred to community services include:
- A need or desire to be seen more than every 2–3 weeks for individual therapy.
- A need or desire for uninterrupted services from semester to semester.
- A need or desire for a specialty or treatment modality we do not provide.
- A need or desire for intensive outpatient, partial hospitalization, or inpatient care.
- Comprehensive psychological assessment to identify concerns such as ADHD, learning disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and similar concerns.
- A need for court-mandated or forensic assessment.
- Students who are currently receiving, or intend to receive, ongoing individual therapy from an outside mental health provider. This does not apply to students interested in transferring their care to the Counseling Center or students interested in accessing groups, workshops, or online 24/7 tools.
- Students needing medical detoxification and/or medical stabilization, including initiating buprenorphine or methadone maintenance.
- Students seeking treatment with Esketamine, psilocybin or other plant-based psychedelics, Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation, or Electroconvulsive Therapy.
- Students seeking certification for a medical cannabis registry card.
- Students seeking documentation for Emotional Support Animals or Service Animals.
