Housing for Fall, Winter, and Spring Breaks

What is Break Housing?

The standard housing agreement is from the official move-in day in August to the official move-out day in May (after spring finals). During that time, the University typically has three breaks: Fall/Thanksgiving Break, Winter Break, and Spring Break.

If you would like to stay in your assigned room over any of the three breaks, you must complete the break stay form for that period. Break stay forms can be found in the Housing Portal (in your PAWS account) on the Forms page. Break stay forms open 2 weeks before each break starts.

Expectations if not staying for Break:

If you do not need to stay over the break, you can leave all of your belongings in the room. RLH will place a checklist on your door for reminders about how to "close up" your room for the break. The instructions include items to cut utility costs, fight against rodents, protect against possible fire hazards, and remind students to grab important items such as medicine. An example checklist for the residence halls is here. The Walking Stick checklist is similar but adapted for apartment living.

Staff will enter each room and apartment for health and safety checks at the beginning of each break period. Maintenance staff may also be in the rooms and apartments over the break to handle facility concerns.

    Crestone, Culebra, and Greenhorn Halls

In response to resident and family feedback, the rates for the Residence Halls now include Fall and Spring Break periods. While there will not be an extra charge for these dates, residents must complete the Break Stay form so that our team can provide access and be aware of who is in the building in the event of an emergency.

Due to the length of Winter Break, the cost is not included in fall/spring Residence Hall rates. The charge for winter break is $150 per week. We will prorate based on the dates you indicated on your Winter Break Stay form. Failure to sign up by the advertised timelines for each break will result in a late sign-up fee.

Staff will enter each room for health and safety checks at the beginning of each break period. Maintenance staff may also be in the rooms and apartments over the break to handle facility concerns.

Students who wish to return for summer housing may request to stay the week between spring finals and the start of summer school. This can be indicated on the Summer Housing Application.

    Walking Stick Apartments

In response to resident feedback, Fall, Winter, and Spring Breaks are included in the fall/spring Walking Stick Rates. While there will not be an extra charge for these dates, residents must complete the Break Stay form so that our team can provide access and know who is here in the event of an emergency. Failure to sign up by the advertised timelines for each break will result in a late sign-up fee.

Staff will enter each apartment for health and safety checks at the beginning of each break period. Maintenance staff may also be in the rooms and apartments over the break to handle facility concerns.

    Summer:

Students who wish to return for summer housing may request to stay the week between spring finals and the start of summer school. This can be indicated by filling out the Late Stay form. The Late Stay form can be found in the Housing Portal (in your PAWS account) on the Forms page.

Walking Stick apartments are exclusively used for summer student housing. If you are living in Walking Stick Apartments in the Spring and are staying through the Summer, please be aware that you will be required to relocate to a different apartment and may be temporarily accommodated in our dorm housing. This is necessary to facilitate our annual apartment cleaning and renovation activities, which occur every summer. We regret to inform you that exceptions cannot be granted.

    Summer Housing

Summer Housing is not considered part of the Fall/Spring housing agreement. We do not allow students to store belongings in their fall/spring assignments over the summer. We may offer storage solutions at a competitive rate if space allows. Please contact csup_housing@csupueblo.edu if you would like information on storage options over the summer break.

Students wanting to remain on campus for the summer will need to complete the Summer Housing application. The Summer Housing application can be found in the Housing Portal (in your PAWS account) on the Housing Application page.

We can provide housing for students 365 days a year but it will mean the student has to move between each agreement. Summer Housing is exclusively in Walking Stick Apartments. Being placed in Walking Stick apartments for the summer does not mean you may stay in the apartment in the Fall. The apartments fill up during the returning resident room selection process each Spring for the following academic year. However, the Walking Stick Waitlist is utilized year-round so you can always put your name on the waitlist for a current or future term.

Additionally, if you are living in Walking Stick Apartments in the Spring and are staying through the Summer, please be aware that you will be required to relocate to a different apartment and may be temporarily accommodated in our dorm housing. This is necessary to facilitate our annual apartment cleaning and renovation activities, which occur every summer. We regret to inform you that exceptions cannot be granted.
