Grand Opening of Occhiato Student Center

A Grand Opening and Re-dedication of the Colorado State University-Pueblo Occhiato Student Center (OSC), following a $34 million renovation, will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 23 in the building’s Great Hall. Among the scheduled speakers at the Grand Opening will be CSU-Pueblo President Timothy Mottet, Associated Students’ Government President Jake Harmon, project donor Mike Occhiato, and Architect Gwen Gilley, representing hord | coplan | macht.

Points of Pride Signage Earns CASE Award

The Colorado State University-Pueblo Office of External Affairs earned a Gold Award from the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) District VI for its Points of Pride Signage Program, which highlight campus milestones and accomplishments at six locations across campus. CSU-Pueblo Executive Director of External Affairs Cora Zaletel will accept the award at the CASE VI joint conference held Jan. 28-30 in St. Louis, Mo. The award was one of 162 winners in 62 categories chosen from 327 total entries submitted by CASE VI member institutions. The award was one of only two in the Strategic Communication category and the only award in the Public Relations and Community Relations category.

New Leadership Hires

Colorado State University-Pueblo has announced the hiring of three individuals to lead the School of Nursing, Extended Studies, and Student Recreation – Dr. Joe Franta, Dr. Kristyn White Davis, and Ms. Emily McElwain.

2017 Fall Dean's List Announced

The following 1038 students have been named to the 2017 Fall Semester Dean’s List at Colorado State University-Pueblo. The list recognizes undergraduate degree-seeking students who have completed 12 or more credit hours with a minimum grade-point-average of 3.5. Those 328 students whose names appear with an asterisk (*) earned a perfect 4.0 grade-point-average. The students are listed by country, state, and town.

Seeking outstanding teachers for March 1 event

The Teacher Education Program at Colorado State University-Pueblo is seeking nominations of outstanding alumni to be honored at the second annual Alumni Educator Hall of Fame induction and Alumni Teacher of the Year Awards on Thursday, March 1 at the Pueblo Country Club. Check in begins at 5:30 p.m. with dinner and awards to follow at 6 p.m. The program is co-sponsored by the Teacher Education Program and the Office of Alumni Relations. According to CSU-Pueblo Student Teaching and Field Experience Director Jeremiah Blaha, the department aims to celebrate alumni who have made outstanding achievements in the educational field, particularly in Colorado. The Hall of Fame is reserved for alumni who have demonstrated 15+ years of outstanding achievement in the field of education. A wall containing photographs and short biographies of the winners is displayed in the Technology Building.
