CSU Pueblo to Celebrate Faculty Scholarship at Annual Scholars Reception

Colorado State University Pueblo will hold its annual Scholars Reception on Wednesday, April 15, from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Ballroom Foyer, recognizing faculty and staff for research, creative works, publications, presentations, and funded grants completed during the 2025 calendar year.
The reception is open to the university community. Slides highlighting each recognized scholar will be displayed throughout the evening.
Evening Program
The Scholars Reception is a long-standing CSU Pueblo tradition. Since earning Carnegie Research College and University classification, the university has continued to build on a culture where faculty scholarship directly shapes student learning, strengthens curricula, and generates solutions for Southern Colorado and beyond.
Research From Across Campus
Dr. Kevin Duncan — Hasan School of Business
Duncan and CSU Pueblo students presented research on Superfund remediation and its effects on property values in Pueblo, connecting environmental policy directly to the local community.
Drs. Alegria Ribadeneira and Katie Brown — Department of World Languages
Both faculty members developed open educational resources in Spanish, contributing free, high-quality instructional materials that reduce costs for students statewide.
Drs. Heather Brown and Margie Day — College of Health Education and Nursing
Their co-authored study examined the impact of Mental Health First Aid training on resident assistants’ mental health literacy, with implications for campus wellness programs across higher education.
Dr. Ryan Strickler — Department of Political Science
Strickler’s article on cross-party support for electoral fairness appeared in the journal Political Behavior, contributing to national scholarship on democratic participation and political polarization.
Faculty across every college and discipline are represented at the reception. Their work ranges from peer-reviewed publications and funded grants to performances, exhibits, and community-based projects. The Scholars Reception recognizes all of it.
