Rooms, Lockers, and Instruments

Practice Rooms

Practice rooms are located on the second floor of the Music Building and are available during the day and evening hours for student use. Rooms have been designated for various areas such as piano, vocal, or instrumental, and should be used accordingly. Schedules are posted on each door, and all students should reserve times in the appropriate rooms for practice. There are a number of open practice rooms available at all times the building is open. Keys may be issued to students in the percussion and piano areas for access to the appropriate practice rooms. See your applied instructor or the Music Department Administrative Assistant for more information.

Keys

All students who are issued keys, must check keys in with the Music Office at the close of each academic year. A form will be signed by the student acknowledging responsibility for the key(s). Keys will be issued at the beginning of each semester or the summer as needed. Students not returning keys or re-checking for the summer will have their records flagged and will not be allowed to enroll for the following academic year, or receive a diploma or transcripts.

Lockers

Lockers are located on the second floor of the Music Building and are for student to use during the year. Students may provide their own locks or request a locker requiring a key. Use of all lockers must be registered with the Music Office at the beginning of each academic year, and must be emptied or re-checked before the summer term. Any non-authorized locks remaining following final exams will be cut off. Any lockers with locks not registered with the Department will be removed. Students not returning keys or re-checking for the summer will have their records flagged and will not be allowed to enroll for the following academic year, or receive a diploma or transcripts.

Instruments

School-owned instruments are available for students to use in technique classes or university ensembles. The student will sign a contract accepting responsibility for the instrument and its proper care, and will pay a nominal rental fee. All instruments must be returned at the end of each semester in satisfactory condition (including properly cleaned and lubricated) and must be properly checked in with the Equipment Manager.
