Using the Library
Checkout, Borrow, and Return Materials
The CSU Pueblo University Library is open to all students, faculty, staff, and the public. Borrowing and access privileges are outlined below. When using the library, please remember:
- Items owned by CSU Pueblo and CSU Ft. Collins Libraries are subject to recall.
- The Library does not charge late fees, but does charge for lost or damaged items in accordance with the Library Circulation Policy.
- Items borrowed from PCCLD Library @ the U are subject to PCCLD lending policies, including fines.
- Computer users must abide by the Library's Computer and Internet Use Policy and the Library Equipment Policy.
CSU-Pueblo Students, Faculty, and Staff
Library Card and Online Access
- Borrow items: Your CSU Pueblo ThunderCard serves as a library card. Use your PID number to check out, renew, and return books and other items at the Circulation Desk. To borrow items from Pueblo City-County Library District, you will need a PCCLD public library card, which can be obtained at the Circulation Desk.
- Access online resources: Your CSU Pueblo eAccount login provides complete access to the library's online resources, from on- and off-campus.
- Renew items: Renew items by phone, in person, or by logging into your Library Account.
Lending Periods
Loan periods for commonly used items are listed below. Separate guidelines for government documents, bound periodicals, and other special materials can be found in the Circulation Policy. Users will be notified of the due date when checking out materials.

Community Members
Community members are welcome to make use of the library's books and electronic resources.
- Borrow items: Colorado residents may borrow up to 4 items at a time using their driver's license. Or, visitors may purchase an LID card for a one-time fee of $5.00 to borrow up to 10 items at a time. LID cardholders are also entitled to Interlibrary Loan borrowing privileges.
- Access online resources: LID cardholders may access the library's online resources at the computer kiosks located in front of the Research Help Desk on the 2nd floor. PCCLD Library materials require a public library card, which may be obtained at the circulation desk. Due to licensing restrictions, LID cardholders cannot access electronic resources from off-campus. See the LID Policy for more information.
- Renew items: Renew items by phone or in person.
Consideration for Others
The CSU Pueblo University Library provides a place for focus, study, and collaboration. Persons engaging in loud or disruptive behavior, or any activity defined by the Colorado Revised Statutes (C.R.S. 18-9-106) as disorderly conduct, will be asked to modify or cease the disruption. Library staff members have the authority to determine if behavior is disruptive and may call campus security or the sheriff’s department if necessary.
Designated Study Areas
The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd floors of the University Library are general service areas, and conversation at a reasonable voice level is expected. The 4th, 5th, and 6th floors are designated as quiet study floors, with study rooms available for groups.
Cell Phones and Headphone Use
In order to provide an atmosphere conducive to learning and study, cell phones should be kept on vibrate mode within the library, and extended conversations conducted in the first floor lobby. Headphones should be used for audio/video streaming, except in enclosed study or technology rooms.
Food and Beverages
These are permitted in closed containers in any library area where these are not specifically prohibited (e.g., computer lab areas, Archives Reading Room). Food is not permitted at computer workstations.
Children in the Library
Parents or guardians are responsible for the actions of children under the age of 18. Young children should not be left unattended. Parents are also responsible for supervising their child’s research or computer usage. The Library does not provide filtering devices for its computers nor otherwise censor the information within its collections.
Animals
Only service animals are allowed in the library.
Proctoring
The Library does not have staffing or facilities available for proctoring of tests. Students registered with the Disability Resource Office should contact that office for proctoring of exams. Extended Studies students can contact the Division of Extended Studies for assistance with proctoring.
Personal Property
The Library has no facilities for the secure storage of personal property and will not be responsible for lost property. Please inquire at the Circulation Desk for lost or found items. Do not leave personal belongings unattended.
