Smithsonian Internship
In the spring of 2016, Colorado State University Pueblo and The Smithsonian Institution signed a memorandum of understanding making it possible for CSU Pueblo students to intern at the Smithsonian for one month in the summer. The internship is designed for students who may not have the opportunity to complete a 15-week internship at the Smithsonian to complete a four-week Internship. The relationship, made possible by the Hispanic Association of Colleges and University's (HACU), allows students from CSU Pueblo to experience hands-on learning opportunities in fields specifically associated with their majors. Students have interned at a number of locations including the National Museum of American History- Lemelson Center for the Study of Innovation and Invention, the Archives of American Art, The National Postal Museum, Office of Protection Services, Smithsonian Facilities Digital Archives Management, Freer Gallery of Art and Arthur M. Sackler Gallery (FSGA) and the National Museum of African American History and Culture.

Apply for the Smithsonian Internship
This summer CSU-Pueblo will be sending 6 students to DC from May 30th- July 1st. This is an unpaid internship with housing covered by the university and a small stipend for expenses while interns are in DC. There is the possibility of earning up to 3 credit hours of internship.
Required to Apply
- Junior or senior level standing
- 3.0 GPA
- Ability to pass a federal background check
- At least one course focused on Diversity in the United States. These courses should have an emphasis in ethnicity or gender. Possibly classes are Chicano Studies and Women's Studies.
Students Should Submit the Following:
- Resume
- Cover Letter specifying why student is interested in interning at the Smithsonian
- 250 word statement of interest specifically stating what you would like to learn.
- 2 letters of recommendation preferably from CSU-Pueblo faculty or staff.

Students Will Be Required To:
- Keep a weekly blog
- Give a formal presentation before the Board of Governors at the August board meeting
