Faculty Mentorship

Build connections with Biology faculty who can help you explore your academic interests, identify opportunities, and prepare for your next step after CSU Pueblo.

Faculty mentorship gives Biology students an opportunity to connect with faculty members beyond the classroom. A mentor can be a valuable resource as you explore your interests, consider career or graduate school options, and look for ways to become more involved in the department.

CSU Pueblo's Biology faculty work closely with students, and the department's small classes create opportunities for meaningful interaction, hands-on learning, and undergraduate and graduate research.

How a Faculty Mentor Can Help

Explore Your Interests

Talk with faculty about areas of biology that interest you and learn more about possible academic and career pathways.

Find Research Opportunities

Learn about laboratory, field, faculty-led, and other research opportunities that may be available within the department.

Prepare for What Comes Next

Discuss graduate school, professional programs, internships, careers, and other opportunities related to your long-term goals.

Build Your Academic Network

Develop relationships with faculty who can help you better understand your field and become more connected to the Biology community.

Getting Started

You do not need to have a research project or career plan already selected before reaching out. Students at any stage are encouraged to ask questions and learn more about mentorship opportunities.

When contacting the department, it may be helpful to share:

  • Your major or area of academic interest
  • Your career or graduate school interests, if known
  • Areas of biology you would like to explore
  • Whether you are interested in research, field experience, or other opportunities
