About Us
Launching in the Fall of 2022, the Industrial Hemp Education and Agricultural Research (InHEAR) program will be an emphasis area in the Cannabis Biology and Chemistry program at CSU Pueblo. The InHEAR degree emphasis will be the only agricultural degree offered on the CSU Pueblo campus. Funded by a grant from the United States Department of Agriculture, this program will focus on the business of growing hemp and the science behind sustainable farming.
The InHEAR program supports the future careers of students. This also aids in the economic development within Pueblo, southern Colorado and the rest of the state as industrial hemp agriculture is on the rise since the 2018 Farm Bill. This degree emphasis area allowed CSU Pueblo to expand into agricultural-specific programs, which addresses the economic need in the southern Colorado region.
Additionally, this program will provide a STEM-focused agricultural curriculum for southern Colorado. The goal will be to develop students with expertise in hemp agriculture for industry, supply-side retail, and/or regulation in one of the state’s fastest-growing industries.
