The Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences is available to students who desire to work in worksite, clinical, school, government and community settings.

This new multidisciplinary degree provides a platform to fill the rising number of health care/allied health employment positions that are a demand in the Southwestern United States.

Program Details

The Health Science degree is 120 credits, including a mix of General Education courses and Electives. All students pursuing the Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences must select a concentration area as a specialization for their degree. The concentration area determines the coursework the student will take since the very start of the academic program. View course catalog

Upon completion of your Health Science degree, you will be able to:

  • Summarize and synthesize information relevant to assessing and improving healthcare and population health;
  • Exhibit the ability to read and interpret scientific research with application of the scientific methods, statistics, study design, and reporting in the health sciences;
  • Evaluate and integrate critical concepts and skills acquired in the health sciences curriculum to common professional problems in the fields of interest;
  • Exhibit effective oral and written communication as well as mass communication regarding subjects related to the health sciences in an individual and group setting;
  • Apply and demonstrate knowledge, skills and critical problem solving in a field-based and/or clinical setting.

Applications for the health science degree are accepted year-round. The admission requirements are the following: 

Prospective Freshman: As a prospective freshman, you are evaluated on the content and rigor of your high school
coursework, grades or high school rank, and standardized test scores. You must successfully graduate from high
school and have a minimum cumulative GPA of at least 2.0. You must complete and submit the undergraduate appli-
cation and send official transcripts to the Office of Admissions.

Transfer Students: Transfer applicants are degree-seeking students who, at the time of application, have completed
a minimum of 24 credits of college-level coursework. Remedial courses and concurrent enrollment courses (courses
taken while in high school) do not count toward the total credit count.

Admission Standards: CSU Pueblo is a moderately selective institution, and we are committed to providing access
to a 4-year college degree to any student is who academically prepared. We look at several factors to determine your
preparation, including your cumulative college GPA and the courses you have taken at your previous institutions. In
general, students with at least a 2.3 cumulative transfer GPA who have successfully completed all basic skill course-
work will be admitted to CSU Pueblo. Students who have not yet completed their basic skills courses or who have a
GPA below a 2.3 are still encouraged to apply, and may be admitted on a probationary status.

 

How to Apply

  • Individuals interested in the Bachelor of Science in Health Science must apply through CSU-Pueblo. We are a moderately selective institution, and we are committed to providing access to a 4-year college degree to any student is who academically prepared. 

    We look at several factors to determine your preparation, including assessment scores, life experience, high school GPA, and academic rigor.

    Important:

    • Students in the Pre-Nursing emphasis applying to the BSN Basic Admission Pathway must submit an additional application with the completion of prerequisite coursework.
    • Students in the Pre-Athletic emphasis applying to the 3+2 Program must submit an additional application on their third year of undergraduate coursework.

Applicants must complete the online application. The application requires official transcripts from all colleges which
the student has attended. Once the application and transcripts have been received, students will receive an admission
