About Us

Colorado State University Pueblo’s MAPS (Mentoring, Access, and Platforms in STEM) Program is a STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) education program funded by a Title III Department of Education grant. The broad theme of the MAPS Program is to build our institutional capacity to attract, support, and graduate Hispanic and low-income students in STEM disciplines from the local community and region.

The MAPS Program integrates co-curricular (research opportunities, internships, mentorship, entrepreneurial activities, and student services), curricular (new and redesigned coursework with a focus on career preparation and entrepreneurialism, course and curriculum articulations, and support courses with increased access), and programmatic (wrap-around services, mental health and wellness referrals, professional development, and internship and workplace training) activities.

Goals of the MAPS Program:

  • Increase the number of Hispanic and low-income students attaining degrees in STEM at CSU Pueblo
  • Strengthen transfer and articulation agreements between CSU Pueblo and Southern Colorado community colleges
  • Improve STEM program collaborations between CSU Pueblo and Southern Colorado community colleges
  • Provide hands-on research and internship opportunities to STEM undergraduates at CSU Pueblo
  • Enhance STEM tutoring, counseling, and wrap-around student support service programs for CSU Pueblo
