Hasan School of Business Gets New Leadership with Ali Ashraf

PUEBLO, Colo.– CSU Pueblo is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Ali Ashraf as the next Dean of the Hasan School of Business. Dr. Ashraf will officially begin his role on July 16, 2025.

“I'm excited to welcome Dr. Ashraf to CSU Pueblo and the academic leadership team. His experience and collaborative approach will strengthen the Hasan School of Business and support our continued focus on student success, innovation, and community engagement,” said Dr. Gail Mackin, CSU Pueblo Provost and Executive Vice President of Academic Affairs.

Dr. Ashraf arrives at CSU Pueblo with extensive professional expertise, currently serving as Associate Dean in the College of Business, Engineering, Computational & Mathematical Sciences at Frostburg State University (FSU), part of the University System of Maryland. At FSU, a regional comprehensive university similar to CSU Pueblo, Dr. Ashraf has been instrumental in expanding access to higher education for diverse student populations, including first-generation college students, minorities, and women.

Since joining FSU as a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Finance in 2013, Dr. Ashraf has steadily advanced through the ranks, earning tenure in 2018 and holding several key leadership positions including MBA Coordinator, Department Chair, and Associate Dean.

Throughout his career, Dr. Ashraf has established himself as an exemplary educator, distinguished scholar, with AACSB accreditation processes, curriculum design, and developing strategic partnerships with community colleges through articulation agreements.

Known for his inclusive leadership style, effective communication, and collaborative approach, Dr. Ashraf values working with faculty, staff, and local businesses to enhance student success and access to quality business education. His leadership philosophy centers on student-centered innovation and incorporates a global perspective informed by his multilingual background and passion for travel.

As a financial economist, Dr. Ashraf's research interests include monetary policy, financial markets, bank regulations, micro-finance, and corporate governance. He also conducts research in regional and urban economics, real estate finance, higher education leadership, and business education.

Dr. Ashraf will lead the Hasan School of Business in its mission to prepare students for success in a rapidly evolving global business environment while strengthening connections with the Southern Colorado business community.
