Colorado State University-Pueblo art class seeks community design projects

PUEBLO – The Advanced Graphic Design class/workshop in the Art Department at Colorado State University-Pueblo is seeking proposals from non-profit organizations for dynamic graphic design projects to be completed during the Spring 2018 semester.

Not all jobs can be accepted but after review, Professor of Art Maya Avina will determine by the end of February if the project is appropriate for the workshop. After selection, the client works initially with a student business manager, then with the designers under advisement of the instructor. For priority selection, proposals should be submitted mid-January.

A sampling of past designs includes logos for the City of Rocky Ford, Huerfano County, All Pueblo Reads logos, Pueblo Performing Art Guild, the Mountain Park Environmental Center, t-shirts, posters for Colorado Music Fest, Blues on the River as well as environmental signage for public parks.

Among the criteria to be considered are:

  • The job needs to be designed and produced during spring semester either through offset press, website, signage, or an acceptable professional product for student portfolios.
  • Clients must sign a contract agreeing to produce such a product and come to all scheduled meetings unless otherwise agreed upon.
  • While no fees will be charged for design services, the client must pay for printing or other final production.
  • Projects given preference will include:
    • full-color posters or two- or three-color posters
    • logos
    • book cover designs
    • labels or packaging
    • environmental signage
    • Projects which may be selected, but are not a priority for design experience for students include:
    • brochures
    • website design
