Colorado State University-Pueblo offers Summer Transportation Institute, June 12-23

PUEBLO - Secondary school students can investigate the transportation industry as a possible career choice as part of a two-week, non-residential National Summer Transportation Institute (NSTI) at Colorado State University - Pueblo in June. CSU – Pueblo civil engineering technology faculty will conduct the Institute from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. June 12 to 23 for students in grades 6 through 8 attending public or private schools in Colorado. Students interested in the program are encouraged to apply immediately.

Space in the program is limited to a maximum of 20 students, who will receive a full scholarship, covering tuition, daily transportation to and from School (in Pueblo County), stationery, laboratory usage and supplies, field trips, and meals during the two-week course being sponsored by the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) and financed by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).

The program aims to increase awareness of, and stimulate interest in, the transportation field by offering teens seminars, demonstrations, field trips, and hands-on activities. Student participants will be introduced to engineering basics and a variety of transportation systems, learn about career opportunities in transportation and the relevant educational and skill requirements, and have the opportunity to meet people who work in the transportation industry.

To be considered for the program, a student must complete an NSTI application available through CSU-Pueblo by June 4.  The NSTI program information and application form is accessible on-line at: www.csupueblo.edu/ceeps/conferences-contests

Interested students may contact the NSTI office at CSU-Pueblo by emailing or calling Jeanne Stewart at Jeanne.stewart@csupueblo.edu or calling 719-549-2890.
