Press Release

PUEBLO – Seniors in a computer information systems class at Colorado State University-Pueblo are seeking significant technology-based projects that will challenge the students to use most, if not all, of the skills and knowledge they have gained during the course of their education.

The CIS 432 Senior Professional Project class for Spring 2016 seeks 9-10 projects to be completed in the course of the Spring 2016 semester. Students will work in small teams to identify the specific operational issues the organization has, and to define the solution requirements their client has for addressing the issues identified.  Once this is accomplished, the team then designs a workable solution, creates it, and implements it to the client’s satisfaction.

In order for the students to have a complete learning experience, the project should be fairly substantial, requiring a full semester to complete. Organizations with the need for a technology-based solution should contact Rick Huff with a brief description of the project and why it is needed.

The class is particularly interested in identifying significant projects related to IS/IT and/or organizational security and/or protection of client data and confidential information. Faculty in the Computer Information Systems department of the Hasan School of Business will screen the projects and make decisions about their inclusion in the class by the end of the semester.

Examples of recent projects include:

    • An update of the statewide Learning Management System for the Colorado Governor’s Office of Information Technology (2015)

    • A replacement interactive touch-screen organizational information system for the  YMCA of Pueblo (2015)

    • A complete overhaul and update of their archival management system for the Pueblo City-County Library District (2015)

    • A new electronic device inventory management system for Sangre de Cristo Hospice & Palliative Care (2015)

    • Pueblo Community Soup Kitchen (2105): A system to track donors, donations, and volunteers.

    • A system to audit and manage software licenses for Pueblo County (2014)

    • Pueblo Weisbrod Aircraft Museum (2014): Significantly expand the content and user-interactivity of their website.

    • A production control system for C&O Window & Door (2013)

    • A system for businesses to report on-the-job injuries for OSHA compliance for Jerry Purswell, Professional Engineers (2013)

    • Parkview Medical Center (2012):  Rebuild and update the corporate intranet.

    • An online tickets sales system for the Pueblo Symphony (2012)

  • Website redesigns and upgrates for the Rocky Mountain Eye Center, Inc., of Pueblo (2011) and PEDCO (2010)
