Press Release

PUEBLO –The Colorado State University-Pueblo Alumni Association scholarship program will benefit from sale of a new commemorative wine, ThunderWolf Red – Spirit of the Pack, available August 8 at 80/Twenty Wines, 415 N. Greenwood in Pueblo.

The first bottle of ThunderWolf Red will be auctioned off as part of the University’s Lobster Bake event on Thursday, August 7 at the Pueblo Convention Center. The Lobster Bake officially kicks off the athletics season for the ThunderWolves and serves as a fundraiser for the athletics program. Samples of the commemorative wine also will be available at the Alumni Association’s Colorado State Fair event on Friday, August 29. However, sales of the wine will not be available at this venue.

80/Twenty Owner John Myers, a Pueblo native, said he has coordinated eight of the private, charity labels “because I want to do what I can to help our community.”

He said the Chianti from the Tuscany region of Italy features Sangiovese grapes and has just the right amount of acidity to complement food.

“It’s a great red sauce wine, and good with a meatball sandwich,” Myers said.

A portion of the sales will be donated to the Alumni Association to enhance scholarship and educational opportunities for current and future students at CSU-Pueblo.

ThunderWolf Red will sell for $12.80 a bottle with $2 from each bottle sold returning to the Alumni Association. A 12 percent discount will be applied to a case of 12 wines, which will sell for $145.12 tax included.

Myers reminded interested customers that this is a commemorative, limited edition label, and quantities may only last through the end of the year.

“It won’t be here long, so get it while you can, knowing that you’re also helping to fund the education of a future ThunderWolf!” he said.
