Press Release

PUEBLO – Dozens of Colorado State University-Pueblo students will attempt to make it home safely by running a gauntlet of obstacles and zombies on Wednesday, April 23. The roughly 1.5 mile obstacle course event is part of the “Even Zombies Know” campaign, a project funded through Colorado’s Persistent Drunk Driver committee. The campaign is a three-year effort to reduce impaired driving and promote responsible choices about alcohol and drugs on the CSU-Pueblo campus.

Branded as “Even Zombies Know,” the campaign has used the popular characters to send the message that choosing to avoid dangerous and often illegal situations brought on by alcohol and drugs should be a “no-brainer” for college students. This is the event’s second year, and this year’s event will include special “guest zombie,” CSU-Pueblo President Dr. Lesley Di Mare. The obstacle course event, “The Running Dead Know,” will provide a fun, visual, and interactive way to engage students while reminding them of the campaign’s important messages.

WHAT: “The Running Dead Know” zombie-infested obstacle course
WHEN: 4-6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23
WHERE: CSU-Pueblo campus (Course begins and finishes at the Rec Center)
Media Opportunities: Visuals of students participating in obstacle course; Zombies in costume participating in obstacle course; Campaign materials.

Interviews with Quatisha Franklin, Interim Coordinator, CSU-Pueblo Office of Alcohol and Other Drug Prevention, can be arranged. Interested media should plan on arriving at the Student Recreation Center by 3:30 p.m. for interviews. Visual opportunities will be available following the interviews.
