CSU-Pueblo Foundation Board Adds Four Trustees

PUEBLO – The CSU-Pueblo Foundation Board recently selected four individuals to join the board as Director Trustees. David Abeyta, Chad Heberly, Abel Tapia, and Dee Weber were selected to join the slate of active Trustees of the CSU-Pueblo Foundation Board.
Dave Abeyta A Pueblo native and senior relationship manager and vice president of Wells Fargo Bank, Abeyta graduated in 2002 from CSU-Pueblo (then USC) with a degree in operations and material management with a minor in business administration. His 17-year tenure in the banking industry will provide expertise in finance and investments for the Foundation. Abeyta has been an advocate for Pueblo serving on various boards including PEDCO, Latino Chamber, and the St. Mary Corwin Board of Trustees.
Heberly is a 2004 graduate of CSU-Pueblo with a Bachelor’s of Science double major in finance and economics. Heberly’s professional background includes mortgage lending, commercial banking, I.T. operations, and insurance. He joined Stifel Nicolaus in 2013 to focus his career on investment and advisory services and to return to working directly with clients. Heberly is on the CSU-Pueblo alumni board and has served as president, during which time he attended Foundation board meetings and participated on committees. As an active member of the Foundation Board, Heberly will provide financial and investment knowledge.

Abel-Tapia As a long time Pueblo advocate, most notably as a state representative and a state senator, Tapia will provide expertise in budget and state affairs that affect the University. Tapia is a first generation college graduate, earning his applied science associates degree from Southern Colorado State College (now CSU- Pueblo) in 1970.  He then earned his civil engineering degree from Colorado State University-Fort Collins. Now retired, Tapia’s extensive professional background included the successful founding of Abel Engineering Professionals, which was listed in the top 250 small businesses in Colorado as well as one of the top 100 minority-owned businesses in Colorado by Colorado Biz Magazine.
Weber, also a Pueblo native, is an active member of Trinity Lutheran School/Church, participating in the Expansion Project for a $1.5 million extension to Trinity Lutheran. Weber has served on the board of directors for the Caring Pregnancy Center, as well as a volunteer counselor at the center. She currently serves as President of the Pueblo Youth Project, which encourages youth to make positive choices in regards to education and drugs. CSU-Pueblo Foundation Board members give their resources, time, and talents, and provide professional expertise to acquire and conserve assets critical to the University’s success. Members are presented to the board by an established nominating committee and are approved by a final vote by the board of director trustees.
