Course Resources

Subject and Course Guides

Librarians create and maintain research guides that provide a starting point for research. Each semester, these guides are linked to corresponding courses in Blackboard, and appear automatically under the Research Guides tab. Librarians can also create customized research guides for individual courses. If you’re interested in having a guide created for your course, contact your subject librarian.

Linking to Library Resources

Linking to library resources is easy. By using permalinks instead of downloading and re-uploading PDFs, the Library obtains accurate statistics on how often library resources are used. Usage stats are an important metric in determining which databases and subscriptions should be renewed. When accessing content from off-campus, students will automatically prompted to login with their eAccount information.

Articles

When you find articles or ebooks in the library's databases, you can copy and paste a permanent url from the database into Blackboard. More detailed instructions by platform can be found on the guide to library linking for faculty.

Streaming Video

Documentaries, indie films, and classics available in Films on Demand can be embedded in Blackboard. Films on Demand films include public performance rights, meaning they can be displayed in face-to-face classroom instruction. Set up your account and learn how to create clips and playlists.

Course reserves

Print reserves

Print reserves are kept at the Circulation Desk. Instructors may submit up to fifty course reserve items per course. Reserve materials must be submitted to the Library within the first week of the semester, and should be arranged with a minimum of 72 hours preceding the assignment. Items on print reserve are available to students for a 2-hour checkout period, in library only. Instructors may request 24-hour, 72-hour, or 1-week checkout periods with out-of-library use.

Consult the Library's Reserves Policy for more information. Before materials can be placed on reserve, faculty must review and sign the Policy for Print Reserve Access to Published Copyrighted Materials.
