JED Campus

CSU Pueblo is proud to be a JED Campus and to work with The Jed Foundation (JED) to create and sustain comprehensive systems, programs, and policy development related to student mental health, substance use, and suicide prevention efforts. The partnership was made possible through a grant from the Coalition of Colorado Campus Alcohol and Drug Educators (CADE).

Components of being a JED Campus:

  • A 4-year partnership
  • Year 1
    • Initial assessment from The Jed Foundation: Includes student data gathered through the ACHA National College Health Assessment
    • Development of a mental health strategic plan with an assigned JED Campus Advisor
    • Creation of the JED Taskforce: A campus-wide team to prioritize and implement the strategic plan
  • Year 2 & 3
    • Implementation: Campus action to implement the strategic plan with feedback and assistance from the JED Campus Advisor
  • Year 4
    • Evaluation and post assessment
    • Sustainability plan

Taskforce Committees

The JED Taskforce identified four areas of the strategic plan to prioritize:

  • Strategic Planning: Helping from a top-down approach
  • Developing Life Skills: Enhance programming and groups; implement campaigns to educate about links between physical/emotional health and academic success
  • Social Connectedness: Establish defined spaces for student groups; develop proactive action steps to help identify disconnected/isolated students
  • Identifying Students at Risk: Support in transitioning new students related to various resources

Each committee has the following charge:

  1. Identify 1-3 priorities within your topic of the strategic plan.
  2. Assess current state. Determine need.
  3. Create, document, update, or publicize related actions for community.
  4. Update JED strategic plan.
