Upward Bound

Upward Bound provides high school students with a "strong finish" to their high school career, and prepares them with skills to take on the next phase of their life - college.

We assist students with their college admission process, college selection, and with tools necessary to succeed in higher education. 

Why Apply?

Students in Upward Bound are four times more likely to earn an undergraduate degree than those students from similar backgrounds who did not participate in Upward Bound!

Upward Bound will assist you:

  • Navigate and stay in high school until you graduate.
  • Provide assistance to select high school classes needed to stay on track.
  • Provide resources to help you pass your state assessments tests in reading, writing and language, and math.
  • Attend college after you graduate high school.

Services offered

As an Upward Bound Participant, you will have an opportunity to:

  • Monthly one-to-one advising
  • Access to laptops, Chromebooks, hotspots, and calculators
  • Cultural events
  • Career and college exploration
  • College campus tours
  • SAT and college preparation
  • Complete college admission applications
  • Financial aid advising and FAFSA completion
  • Scholarship assistance
  • Leadership development and service projects for college applications
  • Summer Bridge Program
  • Senior Leadership Academy
  • Pre-College Academy
  • FREE Tutoring support in all subjects: with special attention given to Foreign Languages, Mathematics, Science, Literature, and Composition.

It's for you if:

  • You are a potential First-Generation student (neither parent holds a four-year college degree); other
  • You are a low-income student as defined by the federal low-income levels; other
  • You meet a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 in core classes; other
  • You are between the ages of 13 and 19; other
  • You are enrolling/enrolled at a participating Target High School
    • East HS, Centennial HS, Central HS, or County HS
