Our Spaces & Facilities

The Student Recreation Center opened in July 2008, operates year round to serve Colorado State University-Pueblo students, faculty, and staff. Facility amenities allow for a variety of activities for members to improve overall health and well-being. The Student Recreation Center is a recreational, fitness and health focal point for the campus.

Indoor Facilities

    Athletic & Personal Training Suite

    Private suite for one-on-one assessments, training and rehab staffed by our personal trainers and certified athletic trainer.

    Aquatic Center (Pool)

    The Sam Jones Aquatic Center, opened in 1989, includes an indoor six lane, 25-yard competition pool, one 1-  meter and one 3- meter springboard dive stands. Adjacent day use locker rooms with shower are available to members and guests.

    Climbing Wall

    The two story indoor climbing wall is located between the Student Rec Center and the Massari Building. The wall is set up for bouldering, and top rope climbing. Routes are set every week to satisfy all interest and skill levels. Bouldering problems are set up to ten feet high, and the wall offers six walls for top rope climbing. 

    We provide harnesses, climbing shoes, and chalk to equip all climbers. No prior experience necessary; our facilitators are eager to provide belays and guidance.

    Equipment Room - Outdoor Pursuits

    The Outdoor Pursuits Equipment Room is open daily during the fall and spring semesters.

    Hours: Monday-Friday - 12:30pm- 5:30pm or by appointment during holidays & breaks - 719-549-2091

    We offer individual equipment rental for those interested in taking their own personal outdoor trips. There is a one-time fee to become a CO-OP member for the entire semester. Being a CO-OP member will allow the individual access to unlimited equipment rental as many times as desired.

    Fitness Center

    Equipment by Star Trac, Nautilus, Life Fitness, Hammer Strength, Matrix and more make the fitness center an ideal locale for strength and conditioning training. This wide range of equipment ensures this space can accommodate any workout. Convenient cubbies are available in order to eliminate clutter in the area, additionally, day-use lockers are located on the main level to secure personal belongings.

    Functional Training Studio

    The Functional Training Studio (FTS) is a mini-gym in itself! The FTS is a great location to expand or enhance one’s workout or simply to check out a new location for exercising. One will find all sorts of training equipment to complement their workout. We have 2 platforms for Olympic lifting and a Life Fitness system with a variety of features and other exercise accessories to enhance your workout.

    Group Fitness Studio

    The flexible studio space is designated for group fitness classes with floor-to-ceiling mirrors and booming sound systems. Equipment is provided for most classes, including steps & risers, Bosu balls, free weights, Body Bars, resistance bands & tubing, mats, yoga mats & blocks, jump ropes, and hand irons (weighted gloves for kickboxing).

    Gymnasium

    The two multi-sport courts can be set up for basketball, volleyball and badminton. Court divider available as necessary.

    Indoor Track

    The 1/13 mile indoor track circles the multi-sport courts below. With lanes for running, jogging and walking, you can choose the pace that you desire. There is plenty of room to develop your endurance! The track alcove is the place to go in the Student Recreation Center when looking a place to stretch and to further develop your core muscles. The southwest corner of the track also features 3 stationary bikes for cardio.

    Locker Rooms

    Active participants have daily access to the men’s, women’s and all gender locker rooms which provide clean and functional space for your convenience. Our locker rooms offer both day use and rented lockers, as well as handicap accessible showers and bathroom facilities. All locker rooms are conveniently located on the first level near our main entrance.

    Additionally, there are day use men’s and women’s locker rooms adjacent to the pool with showers and bathroom facilities with direct access to the pool deck. These locker rooms are open when the pool is scheduled for recreational swim and other Student Recreation programs.

    Racquetball & Squash Courts

    There are three standard racquetball courts and one convertible racquet sport court for racquetball, handball, squash and Wally ball. The space can accommodate tournaments and events of many sizes. An observation/lounge area is available for attendees to watch play or for leisure use.

    Bring a racquet, a ball, and a partner to get involved.

Outdoor Facilities

    Student Recreation Field & Track

    The multi-purpose Rec Field serves as an informal drop-in facility that includes a 80 x 40 yard synthetic turf field and a two lane track (5.4 laps = 1 mile) that can be used for a variety of recreational and leisure sports of your choice.

    Important Guidelines:

    • Due to current risk management policy, baseball, softball, golf, cricket and lacrosse are not permitted activities on the Rec Field.
    • No sunflower seeds or tobacco.  These items can destroy YOUR wonderful turf field! Keep the Rec Field GREEN.

    Challenge Course - Outdoor Pursuits

    The Outdoor Pursuits Challenge Course is our space for outdoor personal development and team building activity which usually consists of high and/or low elements. The course introduces groups to artificial stressors and challenges in a controlled and safe environment. The challenge course setting provides an opportunity for groups and individuals to learn about themselves and address personal, interpersonal, and organizational issues.

    Disc Golf Course

    The 18-hole course is available for use by the general public, it is recommended that participants under the age of 16 be under the supervision of a parent/guardian. Participants should provide their own equipment, however equipment is available for check-out through the Equipment Room for CSU-Pueblo Student and Student Recreation Center members.

    Holes 1-4, &11-18 are in natural arid landscape. Watch for cactus, tall weeds and wildlife. Holes 5-10 are on campus grass, so please be mindful of pedestrians. Report all maintenance issues to the Student Recreation Center at 719-549-2085.

    Walking with Wolves Trail

    The trail is available for use by the general public, it is recommended that participants under the age of 16 be under the supervision of a parent/guardian. There is both a one and two mile loop around campus that includes both paved and gravel trails. Report all maintenance issues to the Student Recreation Center at 719-549-2085.

    Sand Volleyball Court

    The sand volleyball court is adjacent to the Challenge Course and is equipped with high quality sand and net. The sand courts are informal drop-in facilities open for pickup games, and if you’re in need of a ball you can check one out from our main SRC entrance. The sand court is also home to our Intramural Sand Volleyball league.
