Program Acceptance
Formal Evaluation Process
After a complete application is submitted, Social Work faculty will review the materials and may request additional information. The review process determines a student’s admission status.
Admission Decisions
Following review by Social Work faculty, one of the following decisions may be made:
- Formal acceptance into the Social Work program
- Conditional acceptance into the program
- Denial of admission into the program
Notification & Follow-Up
The Social Work Department Chair will notify each student in writing regarding their admission status.
- Reasons for conditional acceptance or denial will be provided
- Corrective actions required for admission will be outlined
- Once corrective actions are completed and approved, conditional acceptance may be changed to full acceptance
- Students initially denied admission may reapply after corrective actions are completed
- Students dissatisfied with the decision may submit a written grievance to the Social Work Department Chair
- If the matter is not resolved, the grievance may proceed through the University’s formal grievance procedures
Admission requirements are established to ensure that students entering the Social Work program are prepared for success in academic coursework and field education experiences.
