Concentration Areas

All students pursuing the Bachelor of Science in Political Science may select a concentration area as a specialization for their Degree. We offer the following areas of concentration:

General Education Concentration

The Bachelor of Science in Political Science with a concentration in General Education helps students understand and analyze domestic and global politics and policy. The Political Science curriculum develops skills that are essential in the modern workplace, including critical thinking, communication skills, statistical methods, and research design.

 

The program is designed to allow you to develop the skills you will need to enter the workforce in government, business, teaching, or to prepare for graduate or law school.

 

Requirements

The General concentration requires a total of 42 credit hours. 

Secondary Education Concentration

The Bachelor of Arts or Science in Political Science with a concentration in Secondary prepares students for teaching at the middle and high school level. Students will also work closely with the Teacher Education Program to gain the experience and necessary skills to thrive, lead, and innovate in the classroom.

 

The program also provides students with foundational knowledge in the following:

  • Human Development
  • Childhood Adolescence
  • Educational Psychology 
  • Foundations of Education 
  • Educational Media and Technology
  • And Much More!

Requirements

The Secondary Education concentration requires a total of 40 credit hours.
