Colorado State University-Pueblo to offer RN to BSN degree online beginning April 30

Beginning April 30, Colorado State University-Pueblo will offer a program for working Registered Nurses (RN) to obtain their Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree in just one year through a fully online format. Students enrolled in a community college or Compact State may concurrently enroll within their program. This will allow students to move seamlessly from their associate degree program to CSU-Pueblo’s online RN to BSN program. Courses will be offered in eight-week sessions.

Interested students must confer with the RN-BSN advisor to develop a program of study. The RN-BSN option will include 33 credit hours of credit through the articulation agreement, 57 credit hours of prerequisite or co-requisite courses, and 30 credit hours of nursing courses for a total of 120 credit hours. Students must pass all nursing courses with a B or better and maintain a nursing 3.00 GPA. RN's transferring from community colleges can transfer in 57 prerequisite credits along with 33 RN credits for a total of 90 credit hours. This applies only to the students in the RN to BSN program.

“Extended Studies is excited to partner with the School of Nursing on this educational opportunity that will provide access to numerous healthcare professionals,” said Kristyn White, director of Extended Studies. “The demand for highly qualified nursing professionals will benefit the southern Colorado community, and this online option will reach an even larger audience.”

RN-BSN Admission Requirements

Students must meet basic nursing program admission requirements and for the RN-BSN option, which is governed by the “Colorado Articulation Model." The RN-BSN student applications are taken year round. An RN-BSN student must have:

  • Associate Degree or Diploma in Nursing
  • Colorado or Compact State nursing license in good standing
  • Current enrollment in a Colorado or Compact State Associate Degree or Diploma Nursing program.

Two (2) separate applications must be submitted for acceptance into this degree program. Applicants must understand that acceptance to the University does not imply acceptance into the Nursing Program, nor does acceptance to the Nursing Program imply acceptance to the University; the student must be accepted to both the University and to the School of Nursing independently to be eligible for this program.

Step 1: Complete the University application for acceptance to the University. The University application requires official transcripts from all colleges which the student has attended.

Send official transcripts to:
