Colorado State University-Pueblo seeks outstanding teachers for March 1 event

PUEBLO – The Teacher Education Program at Colorado State University-Pueblo is seeking nominations of outstanding alumni to be honored at the second annual Alumni Educator Hall of Fame induction and Alumni Teacher of the Year Awards on Thursday, March 1 at the Pueblo Country Club. Check is begins at 5:30 p.m. with dinner and awards to follow at 6 p.m.

The program is co-sponsored by the Teacher Education Program and the Office of Alumni Relations. According to CSU-Pueblo Student Teaching and Field Experience Director Jeremiah Blaha, the department aims to celebrate alumni who have made outstanding achievements in the educational field, particularly in Colorado. The Hall of Fame is reserved for alumni who have demonstrated 15+ years of outstanding achievement in the field of education. A wall containing photographs and short biographies of the winners is displayed in the Technology Building.

The Alumni Teacher of the Year awards recognize recent graduates who are making an impact on the youth of Colorado. This award recognizes educators who are actively teaching and demonstrating “boots on the ground” commitment to the youth of Colorado. Nominations will be accepted from current and former students, parents, peers, principals, and the general public.

Blaha said the awards increase educator/teacher alumni participation, celebrate the work of dedicated individuals, who have given their careers to improving the education of students, and highlight the work of the strong graduates from the Teacher Education Program.

The Alumni Teacher of the Year Awards are presented to teachers at the elementary, middle school, and high school levels. Nominations should include the form found at https://www.csupueblo.edu/teacher-education-program/index.html, resume for the nominee, no more than four pages of supporting documents (i.e. letters of support, newspaper clippings, etc.).  At least one letter of support should be from a current or former student.

Nominations must be received by 5 p.m. on January 26, 2018 to:  Teacher Education Program, Attention: Alumni Teacher of the Year, 2200 Bonforte Blvd., Pueblo, CO 81001
