CSU-Pueblo Foundation hosts ribbon cutting at Thunder Village commercial complex
PUEBLO - The Colorado State University-Pueblo Foundation will hold a ribbon cutting at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, August 28 to mark the opening of Thunder Village, a 10,000-square-foot, $2.4 million commercial complex located just south of the Neta and Eddie DeRose ThunderBowl.
Thunder Village is a commercial development financed and managed by the CSU-Pueblo Foundation that will house three businesses and provide commercial services near the Belmont campus. No donor funds were used in transactions regarding the Thunder Village project. As the property manager, CSU-Pueblo will benefit from the rent collected from the occupants of Thunder Village.
“This development serves the CSU-Pueblo campus two-fold – it provides needed commercial development around our campus for our students, staff, and neighbors and will diversify the investment portfolio of the CSU-Pueblo Foundation,” said Todd Kelly, President/CEO of the CSU-Pueblo Foundation.
“We are extremely pleased to welcome Thunder Village to campus. This development will give our students a place near campus to gather and will enhance their college experience. I am extremely appreciative of the Foundation for taking the lead in this endeavor, building a structure that will not only serve our students and campus community’s needs for development, but will provide additional revenue to the University and its students,” said CSU-Pueblo President Timothy Mottet.
The first tenant in Thunder Village, filling the largest space, is ThunderZone Pizza and Tap House. ThunderZone will occupy more than half of the available space at Thunder Village. ThunderZone will hold grand-opening festivities from 5-8 p.m. on Sept. 2. All businesses will operate independently of the Foundation, which will serve solely as property manager.
From 4 p.m. to midnight on Saturday, Aug. 26, ThunderZone will host a Student Night, featuring half price appetizers, prizes, and discounts on other products.
The CSU-Pueblo Foundation is actively seeking additional tenants that offer products or services attractive to the college demographic to fill the remaining 4,500 square feet. Interested businesses or individuals should contact Todd Kelly at 719.549.2380 or todd.kelly@csupueblo.edu.
