WOODWIND & HORN WORKSHOP
FEATURING THE FACULTY WOODWIND QUINTET FROM COLORADO STATE UNIVERSITY PUEBLO
The CSYSA is proud to host a Woodwind & Horn Workshop with the CSU Pueblo Faculty Woodwind Quintet! Students in grades 9-12 who play bassoon, clarinet, oboe, flute, and horn are invited to participate, as well as teachers. Spots are limited to 10 on each instrument. Please bring your instrument and a water bottle. The focus of the workshop will be on building fabulous-sounding woodwind and horn sections, through fundamental techniques that result in better tone, pitch, and blending. Whether you're playing in a chamber ensemble, band, or full orchestra, you're sure to come away from this workshop with usable skills.
Featuring flutist Andrea Artley, clarinetist Pamela Diaz, oboist Brittany Bonner, hornist Daniel Nebel, and bassoonist Dr. Jeffrey McCray, the artist faculty members of the quintet combine distinguished teaching careers with active solo, chamber music, and band/orchestral performances, having held positions in bands, chamber ensembles and orchestras throughout the United States and abroad.
As proponents of under-represented composers, the quintet commissioned Frances Meier’s piece Autumn; Silver and Brown and premiered it at the 2022 International Double Reed Society Conference in Boulder, CO where they also performed Jenni Brandon’s Five Frogs. They perform and coach high school students annually at CSU Pueblo’s Festival of Winds and enjoy connecting with students and audiences throughout Colorado.
Join us on Saturday, October 22nd from 9 AM TO 12 PM for an enriching and fun morning!
