About the Department

The Department of Media & Entertainment is proud of its 52-year history in southern Colorado and of the positive contributions that our alumni have made in the region, the nation, and the world. We are committed to continuing our tradition of providing the highest-quality media communication education well into the future.

We pride ourselves on the collegial environment we provide for students. We see our students as colleagues, working hand-in-hand with faculty and staff to ensure they are well-prepared for careers in the media communications professions.

One of the ways our students prepare for work in the professions is working in our student media practicum. Our radio station, Rev 89, provides students with an opportunity to do live sports broadcasts, public affairs programming, daily news broadcasts and music announcing, playing the greatest music ever created.

Our student-run newspaper/online news site, The Today, allows students an opportunity to report on events on campus and in the community via a traditional print newspaper and an online news website, which includes video news segments. Students can also get valuable experience with advertising sales when they work with The Today.

Our professional 3,000 square foot television and film production studio gives students the opportunity to create and distribute their own programs and learn the entire production workflow including pre-production, lighting, sound, camera operations, directing, editing, chromakey, and more.

Our faculty are able to provide a high-quality education because we’ve all worked in the fields in which we teach. We understand the fundamental knowledge and skills that are needed in the professional world, and we maintain close ties with professionals to ensure our students are up-to-date with their skills and knowledge.

Students who choose to study in the Media & Entertainment department will get to know the faculty, staff, and other students well. We collaborate on projects and productions, and work closely to ensure each of our students' success.

If you have any questions about our department, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We’d love to meet you!

Sincerely,

The faculty and staff of the Department of Media & Entertainment at CSU Pueblo
