Faculty Senate

The Faculty Senate is constituted as the representative body by which the faculty participates in the conduct of the University's affairs. It provides leadership in the protection of academic freedom; the development, maintenance, and evaluation of academic programs and educational standards; and the advancement of the University by submitting recommendations to the President through the Provost concerning all matters within its jurisdiction.

Important: All terms of office are 2 years beginning and ending in August unless otherwise noted.

Notes

Senate selects Senate Representatives to the Faculty Senate Executive Committee no later than the first senate meeting of the Academic Year. Senators serving on a board as a unit representative are eligible to serve in this position.
All non-Senate Unit Representatives are elected by their unit; for Boards Recommending to Senate and Senate Estate Committees, these appointments are confirmed by Senate.
The senators from each unit select senators to serve on APSB as representatives of their unit at the Fall Senate Retreat.
