Student Privacy
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) (20 U.S.C. § 1232g; 34 CFR Part 99) is a Federal law that protects the privacy of student education records. The law applies to all schools that receive funds under an applicable program of the U.S. Department of Education; this includes Colorado State University-Pueblo.
Disability Resources is subject to FERPA. All records submitted to and from Disability Resources in regards to a student are treated as educational records. As a result, information about the student cannot be shared unless a CSU Pueblo instructor or staff person has a legitimate educational purpose or if the student has signed a waiver for Disability Resources to share specific information with a particular person.
