Biology Facilities
Greenhouse
Our department has on-site greenhouse facilities that allow the growth of plants in three different climates. This allows for student experience in our botany courses of both in-field and more exotic flora in the greenhouse. This area is also available for student research purposes.
Field Sites
The department has active collaborations with surrounding areas that provide access to phenomenal field sites for our Biology and Wildlife and Natural Resources students. This includes Lake Pueblo, Colorado Fish and Wildlife, the Pueblo Chemical Depot, Pueblo Nature and Raptor Center, and several large private ranches.
Cellular and Molecular Biotech Labs
The Biology Department has some of the latest and greatest research instruments available for research and class use. This includes the following:
- Quantitative Real-Time Thermocyclers
- Guava Incyte Flow Cytometer
- Leica Fluorescent microscopes
- Colorimetric and fluorescent plate readers
- Biosafety cabinets and incubators for tissue and cell culture
- Nanodrop spectrophotometers
