Transfer International Students

Admissions Requirements

Transfer applicants are degree-seeking students who, at the time of application, have attempted any credits of college-level coursework. College courses taken while in high school do not apply.

CSU Pueblo is a moderately selective institution, and we are committed to providing access to a 4-year college degree to any student is who academically prepared. We look at several factors to determine your preparation, including your cumulative college GPA and the courses you have taken at your previous institutions.

In general, students with at least a 2.3 GPA (U.S. 4.0 scale) cumulative transfer GPA who have successfully completed all basic skill coursework will be admitted to CSU Pueblo. Students who have not yet completed their basic skills courses or who have a GPA below 2.3 are still encouraged to apply and may be admitted on a probationary status.

For admission as a transfer student, the following checklist items must be provided.

  1. Submit a completed application. Transfer students will select the “Undergraduate Transfer” option for the desired beginning term. Pay the $30 USD admissions fee.
  2. Upload a copy of an unexpired passport on your application status page. We will also require a passport for any family member (spouse or dependent child) who will be traveling with you.*
  3. Email a copy of the student scorecard from the IELTS, TOEFL, or DuoLingo (DET) exam to info@csupueblo.edu. You may not need to submit English-proficiency exam results if you meet one of the exemptions.
  4. Upload documentation of financial support on your application status page.*
  5. Request evaluation of college transcripts through one of the services listed on CSU Pueblo’s website (see Transcripts below). If you have earned less than 30 credit hours at another college or university, you must also submit your high school transcripts for evaluation. You must send all official copies of your transcripts directly to the evaluation service.  The evaluation service will provide a copy of your transcript(s) to CSU Pueblo along with the completed evaluation of transcript.

    Student Visa Requirements

Colorado State University Pueblo will issue a form I-20 to student applicants (and any accompanying dependents) after all documents required for admission are received and the student has been admitted. The I-20 is a required form to obtain the student (F-1) visa from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Step-by-Step Instructions for Obtaining and Maintaining a Student Visa:

    1. Complete the SEVIS form (I-901) and pay the SEVIS fee. This can be completed using a paper or an online option (see link). If completing a paper form, please take this action as early as possible to allow U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement time to receive and process.
    2. Contact the nearest American Embassy Visa Section and arrange an interview. The Form I-20 is issued to you by CSU Pueblo. Proof of SEVIS payment, and any other documentation required by the embassy, must be presented at the time of the interview.
    3. Visit Colorado State University Pueblo’s Office of the Registrar upon arrival to campus. CSU Pueblo is required to ensure that you have arrived on campus.

For more information about the SEVIS form and fee, please visit U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

    Transfer and Graduate Students:

Students who have previously attended another college/university in the United States must also provide a SEVIS Release Form completed by the prior college/university in order for CSU Pueblo to issue a new I-20.
