CoRec Basketball

League Information​:

Basketball is one of the most popular team sports in which students participate on campuses across North America. Basketball was invented by James Naismith in 1891 and was originally played with nine players and peach baskets instead of metal hoops. Today basketball is usually played on a court in which team of five players attempt to score points by throwing or placing a ball through a metal hoop.​

​Registration 
  • ​Registration generally opens the last week  of October, and will close shortly before the beginning of November.
  • League play is typically 3 weeks in length, followed by a double/single elimination tournament. All teams who have an average sportsmanship rating of 2.5, and did not have more than one forfeit, will be seeded into the bracket.
  • Roster additions may be made up until playoffs begin.

Eligibility Exceptions
  • Only 2 highly competitive athletes may be on any roster at any time. This is a protestable rule.
General Rules of Play
  • All leagues will play 5 vs. 5, with a 4 player minimum to start the game.
  • CoRec leagues require a minimum of 2 female players to start and continue the game.
  • Maximum roster limit is 12 people.
  • Games consist two, 17-minute halves.
