CSU Nursing rank

Colorado State University Pueblos School of Nursing is ranked sixth out of 41 nursing programs in Colorado, according to Nursingprocess.org, a national, independent nursing information and education site.

The ranking is based on such variables as academic quality for acceptance rate, graduation rate, retention rate, student to faculty ratio, licensure exam NCLEX-RN first time pass rates, affordability and the nursing schools reputation. The rankings can be accessed online.

I am proud of the faculty and leadership of our School of Nursing, they have created a suite of quality undergraduate and graduate programs that offer opportunities at all levels to aspiring students and nurses in the field, said Mohamed Abdelrahman, provost and executive vice president of academic affairs at CSU Pueblo.

The recognition of the nursing program is not the first accolade for the School of Nursing. The RN to BSN program in the School of Nursing and Health Sciences was recognized in 2019 by registerednursing.org as the best RN program in the state of Colorado. CSU Pueblos graduate nursing program was also named best value nursing program for 2019-2020 by graduatenursingedu.org.

In August, CSU Pueblo opened the Center for Integrated Health and Human Inquiry (CIHHI) which formerly was home to the Psychology building on campus. The opening of the CIHHI allowed the School of Nursing and Health Sciences to partner with Parkview Medical Center to expand the nursing simulator lab to include an out-patient clinic with emergency room scenarios, intensive care units, medical-surgical units and a skills lab.

With the opening of the Center for Integrated Health and Human Inquiry, housing the School of Nursing, with state of the art simulation laboratories and teaching spaces, I am confident we will be able to further enhance our nursing programs to better serve our students, region and state, said Abdelrahman.

The School of Nursing and Health Sciences provides online learning components in all of its program offerings. Students can earn a bachelor of science in nursing (BSN), registered nurse (RN) to BSN, RN to master of science, master of science with a major in nursing, and doctor of nursing practice (DNP). Earlier this year CSU Pueblo celebrated the first two graduates of the DNP program. The BSN program is also available as a fully online program or can be taken in person.

The nursing program continues to be ranked among top schools in Colorado and in the nation, explained Joe Franta, dean of the college of health, education and nursing at CSU Pueblo. Our faculty care about student success. We want the future nurses from southeast Colorado to join us for their careers as partners for our regions health care nursing needs and for them to know they will get a quality education they deserve.

CSU Pueblos School of Nursing provides quality learning experiences, multiple degree entry pathways, serves as a regional nursing education center for Southern Colorado and maintains educational excellence. The nursing programs at CSU Pueblo were established in 1964 with the mission to prepare graduates for professional positions as safe, competent and caring nurses that meet the health needs of diverse populations.
