Colorado State University-Pueblo recognizes Holocaust Remembrance Day April 12
PUEBLO – Colorado State University-Pueblo will sponsor a day of activities, including a memorial service, personal testimony, lectures, and a display on Thursday, April 12 in recognition of Holocaust Remembrance Day. An educational poster, along with the reading of names of those who lost their lives, will serve as the pinnacle of the day’s events.
All activities, with exception of the educational poster display and the reading of names which will occur in the LARC Lobby, will take place in the Occhiato Student Center (OSC) Tundra Room 008. All events are open to the public at no charge. The following are the day’s activities:
The Impact of the Holocaust on Individuals with Disabilities (Chantal Woodyard, Community Member) - 9:30-10:15 a.m.
Personal Testimony (Helena Atlas-Acuna, Community Member) - 10:30-11: 15 a.m.
Reading of names of individuals who perished and a poster display *LARC LOBBY* - 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
Individuals involved in the reading of names of those who perished in the Holocaust include Kathryn Balek, Dr. Madison Furrh, Jim Hawthorne, Sandy Hudock, Dr. Derek Lopez, Karen Pardue, Caroline Peters, Betsy Schippers and students Dawn Carver, Matthew Ellington, and Guy Mendel.
Memorial Service with Musical Accompaniment (Rabbi Birdie Becker and Dr. David Volk) - 1:30-2:15 p.m.
LGBT and the Holocaust-Movie and Discussion (PRIZM Members) - 2:30-5 p.m.
